Clarity Cap CMR Impressions
Forgot to answer your voltage question. :) Lowest available, so I think that's 400V for CMR? Thanks,Erik
HDCD rescue - it's possible, but man...
@georgelofi I certainly can't find any evidence to the contrary! :) Erik
Meridian DPS 7000 ? 5200? are these speakers actually worth having as a long term deal...
Rapogee,Kind of a question only you can answer. One thing I have noticed is that Meridian tends to get hugely discounted on the used market. That's not important in terms of whether they sound good to you, but if you do like them you can get prett...

Hi @dgarretson Thanks for backing me up, people usually think I make this stuff up. Let's say 2uF and 10uF. Any sort of comparison would be useful. Like "Exactly the same, half" etc. I should stop being so cheap and just buy a set. I just want to ...

So Kevin,Make sure when you listen  your speakers are away from walls as much as you can. :) What you described is typical of a room that is far too lively. By pulling the speakers away from the walls and you moving towards them you change the rat...
Considering Bricasti and Lampizator
I've never heard the Bricasti but always intrigued by it. Anyone who would like to send me one for a 10 year review.... :D :D I would strongly recommend you listen to the current Mytek DACs, with support for DSD256 (yeay!!), PCM 384 and MQA (meh!)...
What are the smallest speakers that are clean and flat down to 20hz?
I would consider looking at the DIY site from Troels Gravesen. Lots of his kits show the speaker response and the room response, followed by the final outcome.  You could find it illuminating. http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/Diy_Loudspeaker_Projects....

Room treatment is always important. Contact GIK acoustics. They have a variety of pretty panels including Art Panels you can have custom printed. One thing to check, sit about 2' in front of your speakers. I know it's not how you listen, just try ...

Hey @dgarretson Question, do you have any expectations for how the CMR vs. MR compare in terms of ESR? I'm wondering how close they are to drop-in replacements for each other so I can gauge if I'll need to make adjustments to a tweeter filter.Than...
What are the smallest speakers that are clean and flat down to 20hz?
FYI, there’s a rule of thumb, that for any given driver, going down an octave causes 10x the linear cone travel. So, if you attempt 20 Hz with a 6" driver you’ll need it to move a foot back and forth or something ridiculous like that. :) This is w...
What are the smallest speakers that are clean and flat down to 20hz?
Hi Mapman,Clean and flat = big driver. Best I've had is a 15" Hsu which was flat to 16 Hz after acoustic treatments and EQ. However, it's really important to understand, below 400 Hz or so, your room becomes a very important part of "clean and fla...

@dmhenley Wouldn't that be nice? I wish there was. I did speak to Norbert Mundorf at a show, promoting the 30th Anniversay edition speaker kits. He was pretty convinced capacitors changed sound quality when new, but we never got into any "why's" a...
Clarity Cap CMR Impressions
Great to hear. :) Wait for the end of the first 100 hours though. :) Lots of caps and electronics sound extra dynamic at first and mellow out. Best,Erik
How do I power my 800D(3)s
Congrats.  First, invest in room acoustics. GIK Acoustics has great advice and products. Next, tubes man. These are definitely speakers I'd pair with Tubes a-la AR, CJ or if SS, Ayre.
Periodic noise
Power off any othere dvices in the room you can. Routers, switches, thermostats (if WiFi enabled), cable TV, satellite receivers, etc as well as light switches, wall-wart chargers, anything at all that draws electricity.See if this helps any. Next...
