Krell HTS 7.1 pre-amp mode There is usually not a switch on the outputs. :) I've never seen a device with XLR and RCA outputs that didn't power both simultaneously. INPUTS however are often switched.
Budget Audiophile Looking For Amplifier Suggestions Lots of amps do this. They sound great. Focusing too much on the alleged negatives of each technology leaves you buying nothing but massive Class A amps. Listen instead.Best,E
Oppo 105D high frequencey sizzling issue anyone help me suggesting a mod that i can do or? Mytek is my favorite DAC right now. :) Best,E
What is best tweeter height for the Devore O/96? I forgot to mention time and phase matching may be better by being off-axis, but that's not a discussion that ever goes well. :) Best,Erik
What is best tweeter height for the Devore O/96? @charles1dad You are most welcome!
Why does it take so many hours to brea in arc preamps and amps? BTW, having a "long" break-in time isn't necessarily indicative of Teflon caps. I've had ARC gear that claimed a 500 hour break in with nothing fancier than Wima polypropylene caps.
What is best tweeter height for the Devore O/96? While it is uncommon, it’s not wrong to see a tweeter below the mid/woofer too, with the mid-woofer at ear level. As a speaker designer and sometimes maker, yeah, the optimum twetter location can vary quite a bit, based on it’s off-axis frequency...
Oppo 105D high frequencey sizzling issue anyone help me suggesting a mod that i can do or? Here is a good possibility, scroll down for the Oppo 105 mods. It seems they use electrolytic coupling caps (not good practice) so bypassing them is a great idea. http://audiophile-musings.blogspot.com/
Oppo 105D high frequencey sizzling issue anyone help me suggesting a mod that i can do or? You have just described that's why I don't like Oppo high end DAC's.... :) :) Are you hearing noise, or just a really hard/hot treble? if the former, you may have bad power supply issues. If the latter and on both sides, it's likely to be the char...
Disaster If you have vintage wood cabinets/horns I suggest you consider a woodworking restoration specialist. Sometimes found through architectural restoration.
Disaster YES!! Pain in the ass though. :) May only require external cleaning. Soot can be conductive, so any circuit boards/bare connections will need cleaning. Best,E
Class D Technology @mapman That's really good. My one exposure to Triangle was with high-end McIntosh gear in the early 2000s and bright and glaring is exactly what they sounded like. It never occured to me to consider the amps.I'm listening with very high end AMT ...
Why does it take so many hours to brea in arc preamps and amps? Most of my experience with break-in (as opposed to warm-up) is with speaker crossovers, and caps. Replacing a cap takes at least 24-72 hours for them to settle in and give you a "final" version of the sound. I wish I understood the physics. :) I u...
Budget Audiophile Looking For Amplifier Suggestions The Parasound A23's are really great, run around that. Arcam also makes very nice receivers/integrateds I'm a huge fan of.
Why are low impedance speakers harder to drive than high impedance speakers So by and large, @atmasphere re-expressed my explanations for output impedance with a lot of discussion about tubes and distortion. I may not agree with some of it, but the truth is, voltmeters don’t get pleasure from listening to music. Humans (a... |
