Thinking of replacing my Bat spaceheater with class D, real world thoughts please I should also say, I really really find the NuForce hybrid approach VERY interesting indeed. I would love to compare it to the other popular topologies such as Hypex, ICEPower and Pascal.
Thinking of replacing my Bat spaceheater with class D, real world thoughts please I think if you can, you should only trust your own ears. I suspect the Class D amps will be different, like any modern solid state amp would be. Will you like it? Does it go in the right direction for you is a deeply personal judgement.I will say ...
Apartment Dweller's Paradise - The Ideal 2 ch. system? What about their total footprint though for the maggies? I mean, don't they need a lot of floor space in front and behind? I'm waiting on someone to bring up small, horn loaded speakers like say the Hsu satellites:http://www.hsuresearch.com/produc...
Apartment Dweller's Paradise - The Ideal 2 ch. system? Or skip subs altogether. :)
Apartment Dweller's Paradise - The Ideal 2 ch. system? Personally I like Arcam integrateds and Monitor Audio bookshelves.

Amps from the 1980's -- What gear holds up sonically? Reliably? Thanks to all of the contributors so far, this has turned out to be a great thread. I appreciate hearing about all of the experiences and especially about gear I never heard or saw myself. I want to take a moment to acknowledge that our pleasure, ...
Speaker phase observation and question? Hi Almarg,I am definitely on team "easy to drive speakers." Get easy to drive speakers and a lot of amps will sound really great. Get demanding speakers, and your amp costs may go up considerably. So make sure if your speaker is demanding that it'...
Coda Tech Amplifier My last audition was a long time ago, so I would not put much weight on my comments in evaluating the newest Coda products.Best,E
Coda Tech Amplifier Well, when I say you really need to listen to it, I say so neutrally. While it was robust, I found the amp QUITE cool sounding. More blue than red. Kind of how I felt about older Krell equipment. It was also a lot finer and more delicate across the...
Speaker phase observation and question? I really again, suggest anyone who wants to learn more would do so with the LM-1 simulation files. You can review the frequency, electrical and acoustic phase of the drivers by themselves, and then see how the crossover adds to it.Best,E
Coda Tech Amplifier I believe the designers are Threshold alumni. Sander's Magtech amplifiers are built by them, with significant enhancements and spec changes here and there to improve ESL performance and power supply stability. I would say you absolutely should lis...
Speaker phase observation and question? Hi @kosst_amojan,Well that is unusual, but not the end of the world. Well, I consider that quite predictable, this is what math and simulations are for. But your comments seemed to be mixing up phase and polarity. Best,E
Full range or subwoofer with bookshelfs for best bass at low to moderate volume? Guys, if you hate crossovers, get a sealed 2-way,plus a sub and don’t use a crossover at all. Run the satellites full range, and only use a crossover and EQ on the sub. You won’t get big gains in the amp's dynamic range, but you will avoid the el...
Time for Two Ways ! I have never heard Fritz, but he's picking great components and selling at bargain prices. They are definitely speakers I would have to audition before spending more. |
