acoustical stuffing / sound dampening subwoofer cabinet REL BRITANNIA B1 subwoofer
Braces also decrease the internal volume. Honestly, if you start thinking that just put the speaker back together and make your own subwoofer. You'll be happier that way.Best,E
Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" drove me insane almost
I just listened to KoB, 2013 remaster at 96/24Horns sound fine. Oops, I also listened at 192/24 (2 different DAC's here, one only does 96/24)Both sound fine.

This sounds like a DAC issue actually. I have a DAC that sometimes doesn’t detect the new sample rate correctly, and plays at the previous sample rate. ODDLY, it still sounds OK, until voices and trumpets kick in, or you turn the volume up. Don’t ...
acoustical stuffing / sound dampening subwoofer cabinet REL BRITANNIA B1 subwoofer
I think that evaluating stuffing without the proper experience with microphone techniques is pretty inefficient. I point you to this thread:http://techtalk.parts-express.com/forum/tech-talk-forum/8948-effect-of-stuffing-on-the-qtc-in-a-woof...

Keep in mind that adding/removing stuffing also affects the tuning of the cabinet. That cabinet looks REALLY clean, so not sure it ever had any. Stuffing will raise the effective volume, lowering the Q and lowering the tuning frequency. This Anoth...
JBL L 100 Mystery cabinets
The curved sides and lack of a flat rear wall minimize front to back standing waves. So long as you keep the overall volume, and front baffle dimensions, this should be fine. Per Troel’s discussion page it seems like the driver doesn’t like sealed....

Not sure, but you may want to start at the project page here:http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/JBL_L100.htmYou can also ask in the DIYAudio multi-way forum, here:http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/My go-to guy for speaker cabinet manufacturing is...
Design a $60,000 Speaker - Start here
Zobel networks are another mythical beast. Zobels are used to flatten the driver impedance, usually to assist high / low pass filters in behaving more ideally. Their need/use/benefit and specific implementation is pretty speaker dependent.https://...
Integrated amp
The NAD D3020. Plenty of analog and digital inputs. It powers my desktop / bedroom system and I’m pretty happy with it. Now selling for about $399 ($100 off original MSRP)Has a remote, and a "bass boost" setting which I have found useful. This is ...
Why is good, deep bass so difficult? - Myths and their Busters
Dave, I'm now in a completely open floorplan, so no room loading. Previously, yes! Rather than the Behringer, I like the miniDSP line. Easier to control via windows UI, and I can feed it directly from OmniMic. I measure the response and then have ...
Why is good, deep bass so difficult? - Myths and their Busters
For measurements, if I'm not using OmniMic, the Android app AudioTools + the Dayton IMM6 microphone is a real godsend. Best,E
Why is good, deep bass so difficult? - Myths and their Busters
I can be quite brave when I say I could not justify $12k on a subwoofer. :) Your wallet may be less prone to pain and suffering than mine however, and I welcome you to spend as much as you'd like.I will say that I have plenty of output and my HT h...
Are future improvements in Amp/PreAmps slowing to a crawl?
@dlcockrum Yeah, you are not the only one! Apparently Carver did not have any PC's to do Monte Carlo simulations. It took him years to figure out the problems, AFAIK, related to switching voltages far too fast in the power supply, causing dead sho...
Are future improvements in Amp/PreAmps slowing to a crawl?
I never said the amps were exceptional, but that the paper put together the formula. I am unaware of any other document before his paper that put together all the components that would become known as the SS formula. If there are, please share. Hi...
