Current speaker threads are boring
I think a neutral review of all the flames and attacks on this forum and You'd see they come at equipment of all price points. E
Spend more money on the amp or the pre-amp?
Used PrimaLuna integrated. :) Best,E
Tech That Flopped!
DAT and it's 48 kHz/16bit format wasn't much better. Also along these lines were the Sony PCM --> VHS converters.
AV Furniture - Depth
Forgot one other thing: Heat. Closed cabinets, even with ventilation holes, get really warm. Warm enough to make a mini-PC run iffy. If you are planning to put a class A amplifier in a cabinet, having an open construction will really help keep eve...
AV Furniture - Depth
This is a serious issue, and it is made much worse by cable makers who put monstrous connectors on the back, like with XLR plugs. So even if you get the depth, you can't connect anything to it.

Inna, Maybe you should ask yourself what threads you have started and how you have contributed to answer your own question. Best,E
Design a $60,000 Speaker - Start here
Well, it's a different thing to talk about how you get speakers into stratospheric price points than saying everyone can build a world-class speaker. However, it helps to have an ear that is independent of Stereophile reviews, and price tags. Then...
Help with room treatments
I think the point of the thread was just who to spend money with. Simple topic. Simple answer: GIK. More on this, I recently went to the California Audio Show in Oakland. ASC was a sponsor. Rooms were terrible sounding. Midrange sucked right out o...
Warm, lush and dark ... Dac up to 1.2K
Audio Research. I only heard the 8, but that's how I would describe it.
Help with room treatments
For home, I like GIK much more than ASC, especially for their soffit traps vs. ASC tube traps, the effectiveness of their panels, cost and professional help. However, I would say, start easy. If you think it’s a big deal, you can add more componen...
Can I mix 5 ohm ( Front L/R) and 8 ohm (Surround & Sub) in a 7.1 speaker setup ?
The amp supports a minimum of 6 Ohms. Set it to that for your fronts, but it will be a little bit of a squeeze. The lower the impedance (Ohms) the harder the speaker is to driver. A 4 Ohm speaker requires 2x as much current as an 8 Ohm speaker. Go...
which is better? Stereo Amp or Monoblocks?
I should also point out, despite the amps I used having relatively poor channel separation, using them in mono or stereo didn't make a really big noticeable difference. Eventually I used one for pure surround, so I could turn it on/off by trigger ...
which is better? Stereo Amp or Monoblocks?
Depends. I like mono because of better channel separation, but cost savings in stereo is often worth it. I used to run a pair of Parasound amps, one for L and L surround, the other R and R surround. Worked great. What I really want is a HT integrat...
Need recommendation for replacement of Vintage Conrad-Johnson PV-11 preamp.
Super easy preamps to work on. Get it fixed.
Move router far from hifi components?
It's not just the router, but the wall wart too. Those little switching supplies need to be kept far outside your audio chain. And... it depends. If you search the forums, several cases of severe noise caused by Wi-Fi routers and devices like home...
