@kennyc  Speaker and room coupling, haven’t seen your room treatments promoting lately which is important without overdoing it. The floor to ceiling bass traps, and wall to wall traps on the floor behind the entertainment system is in large pa...

@jc4659  It's quite likely I've seen that before and it's stuck with me.  Unfortunately that (relatively) ugly plate amp is not going to want to be seen. :)
Is Full-size speakers for L-R Rears advisable?
The original surround sound standard does not include a need for FS speakers for anything other than LR.  All other speakers were 200hz and up. This has been carried through for decades now in the cinemas. Bass has always been handled by sub-woof...

@scotandholly  There is a lot that went into this that has to do with my aesthetics, complete lack of willingness to add more bass cabinets and wanting to take the positive experiences I had with an active center channel and bring that over to my ...

I'm teasing the DBA group by calling this a subwoofer project. It's really a 2-way to 3-way, passive to active project specifically tailored for my living room.

Not sure what you are replying to @scotandholly
Is it possible to find a good DAC for under $50, 000?
It would need to have at least 10 cabinets per side.  Half dedicated to power reproduction,  then 2 128 CPU servers with 4 nVidia 5090s to use AI to re-imagine the music at a billion samples per second with 256 bit resolution.  I mean seriously, ...

@iseland  Would it might be the FA502 you have on order 🤔  Have that one and it’s great.. Plate amps are not on order.  They are on my dining room table. But because I’m converting a 2-way passive by adding a subwoofer and amps, the amps are...

Hi @audiokinesis  - Thanks for your feedback. You are not the first one to suggest that.  I’m limited by two overriding priorities: - General dimensions of the cabinet are set by current speaker footprint. - Hypex plate amplifiers are BIG! The...

@tomcarr Yes indeed.  I've heard it happen.  Also check out the AM Acoustics room mode simulator for help with placing your speakers and listening location.
2 Channel system sounds weak and lackluster
Your room is excessively bright.  Lack of treatment, and highly reflective surfaces will emphasize the mid-treble.  You like it close to the wall because that’s where you get the most bass reinforcements. Adding bass is not a great idea here bec...
Second streamer in a Roon system. "Digital for analogue brains"
I use a Pi 4 (or maybe 5) running Ubuntu.  Rock solid. I purchased a fancy cooling case just to avoid fans and be cool.  Internal CPU temperature on the Pi never even gets warm.  running just music.
Anyone else constantly curious about amps?
The trick is to get into inexpensive small amps you can afford to keep 3-4 of and rotate in and out over time.  Especially fun to do with smallish tube amps.
Listening Room or Components or my ears?
If you like wall art consider acoustic art panels.  These are sound absorbing panels with your choice of art printed on them. Generally speaking though, if you are in a basement with reflective surfaces it’s almost not worth any speaker upgrades ...
