Recommendations for really well-recorded music for high-end audio system demo Anything from Blue Coast Records, especially if you want to show off DSD.
The Horror Just for the record, I'm joking. I don't actually give a damn how much a system costs as I believe excellent sounding systems are available at many different price points.
The Horror The only real audiophiles own Formula 1 teams.
Best way to offload currently inoperative Conrad Johnson MV60? Well, you can sell anything on e-bay or here if you describe it accurately. I once sold a watch in terrible working shape, but I still got 5 stars because I spent so much effort describing it that the buyer new what he was bidding on. Personally ...
revel f208 @jtgofish - That's another thing... the tweeters just don't contribute that much to the sound. I mean, they do but we often spend way too much time and money on them at the expense of ignoring the midrange.
Are your speakers losing air? Well @tvad - I guess you solved it for everyone!! I mean, yes, listening nearfield solves the problem if you can listen or want to listen nearfield. Otherwise, EQ the missing frequencies by adding a 3dB-6dB boost. EQ and room treatements ...
revel f208 OP: To be able to swap out one tweeter for another and not change the crossover is a lucky situation indeed. More to the point, you sound ready to start experimenting, and I am going to encourage you to leave stock speakers alone, sell them and s...
Are your speakers losing air? Several readers replies make me think that they missed the solution here: Eliminate early reflections A principle that can be applied to any speaker.
Are your speakers losing air? You’d be shocked at how many well known and well respected, center channel speakers have horrible off axis speaker performance, and measurements. @simonmoon That's why I built my own. 😁 @moonwatcher I think you touched on several issues ...
What is the Current Guidance on Stereo and AV Configurations Hi OP, Sorry for just now jumping in here. I think there’s at least a small part here I can help you with: How much of a difference does a center channel make for video? My first real jobs were centered around motion picture sound syste...
sibilance in system You may be too close to the tweeter axis. Try reducing the toe-in,and/or moving the speakers closer together. Also, of course, check your room for recent changes. Sibilance is often caused by too any flat reflective surfaces.
room setup suggesion needed @mijostyn Let me rephrase. I find your attitude confrontational and ill informed and I don’t need to participate in your argument as a result. Good day.
Why do Wav and Flac Files Sound Different? @moto_man We should separate two issues. Lossless, and recording quality. WAV, FLAC, and ALAC should all be lossless formats, but I don’t do quality assurance on every algorithm out there which is converting from one to another, or used in CD rip...
Shocked. Need Opinions. How muck power do I need? @loomisjohnson - I can believe that, but also Pass I think likes big old school speakers. See if you can find Pass' article on damping factor and whether it really should be low or not.
room setup suggesion needed @mijostyn - I decline to play with you anymore. I’ve shared my beliefs based on measurements and hands on experience, which I believe is all backed up by research which you are best left to your own devices to find. |
