Going to try digital
Do you need to rip music, or are you just going to stream? Is your house iPad or Android ?
Tweeter Capacitor Upgrade (Coincident PREs)
Hey @beetlemaniaThe CMR are excellent caps as mains, but above 4.7uF or so they need bypass caps. Below this, I can’t hear any benefit at all. The CMRs are really excellent caps. My main speakers use a 3rd order hi-pass filter. To my ears, bypassi...

You'll be fine. Just don't solder too close to the cap body.
The Future of Audio Amplification
Zero-feedback Class D would seem to be a unique twist. It would, since feedback is how the switching is controlled, without feedback, there can be no switching.  The Technics model is different though. It uses digital signal processing to compensat...
The cast of JassFM 91 / Toronto started a new gig!
Are you in Toronto?  Nope. You are aware of allegations of workplace bullying and sexual harassment that led to an exodus of several staff? I had no idea. One of the leaders of Jazz Cast alluded to the change in atmosphere, but no, nothing like t...
The invention of measurements and perception
I taught statistics and experimental psychology... This is a field in which measures are constantly evolving and being added to. I'm afraid that in audio our measures are decades old and have not been updated, just cheaper to collect. What I mean...

Psssst ....Do a CMR with a Jupiter bypass cap. :) Best,E
Modifying Philharmonic 3 crossovers
Just looked, there IS a 20uF model.... https://www.partsconnexion.com/CLARITY-82513.htmlWhat is the cap used for in the circuit?
Modifying Philharmonic 3 crossovers
So long as you replace caps with new of equal or higher V that's usually fine. 100V is pretty high for most speakers, but a lot of film caps only come in 400V or higher. That's fine.As for the 20uF, try an 18uF and 2.2uF in parallel.
DC Offset Blocker/Killer - where to buy in the USA
DC blocking circuits are expensive to do right, and are very rarely needed. That's why they aren't included in almost any linear power supply I know of. I also don't know of any general purpose power conditioner that includes them. You have to eit...
DC Offset Blocker/Killer - where to buy in the USA
It is quite possible the two transformers are not the same. So differences in manufacturing can account for this.
Best bookshelf speakers <$2000
I believe the Revel M126Be, which is $4,000, has slightly better than the 10 x 1 driver ratio cost you listed. SB gives amazing discounts to volume purchasers. Look at the prices for the Tekton series with 20 or so $30 tweeters. So, I'm pretty su...
DC Offset Blocker/Killer - where to buy in the USA
Not all transformers will respond the same. Try taking the amp to another building and see what happens.
DC Offset Blocker/Killer - where to buy in the USA
You got a bit of bad advice. Mechanical transformer hum comes from having DC on the AC line. Isolated lines or ground do not help you. First check your AC for DC. An electrician should do this. This can be caused by lights and dimmers elsewhere in ...
The Future of Audio Amplification
Maybe the question we really should be asking Kosst and George is this:What, exactly, are the audible effects of switching distortion in a Class D amplifier, and can you give specific examples, with speakers, that you have heard this from? Like al...
