Modifying Philharmonic 3 crossovers Well, I don't know about bass. In the pass through, they tend to be a little dark. However ... as shunts in a woofer, film caps absolutely rule, and CSA caps have a very nice price point. Several modders have been impressed by how changing the woo...
"Audiophile" Printer - But Interfering with AC? Gang, You must have old wiring, because no way 5A draw would cause lights to flicker with a decent 15A line.
The Future of Audio Amplification I find Brunos definitions kind of useless. Most Class D have no Analog to Digital Conversion (ADC) stage, but do have comparators. Hence the feedback required. The Technics on the other hand, really does have an ADC, and once calibrated, the outpu...
The Future of Audio Amplification Saying Class D is as good as Class A is like those hyping Digital is a good as Vinyl. Are your ears truly that bad? Does a digital piano sound as good as an acoustic? No. End of story.Someones feelings are hurt. NO no no. I meant to say that goo...
external power supply question, will it work?? To be clear,Voltage should match, but current can be over.
external power supply question, will it work?? You need voltage AND current. However, the problem is finding a high quality, low noise unit. You can find several wall warts which are digital and noisy as can be. I can highly recommend Astron power supplies as great, low noise, general purpose ...
Increase total Speaker Impedance -- Potential Solution What exactly are you trying to do? If you add anything in series you can alter the impedance, but you also lower the output. The question really is WHY. Best,E
The invention of measurements and perception @erik_squires, since you are a teacher of experimental psychology Ahem ... no no no, that was not me! :) @edstrelow This is attempted, but the measurement is not standardized. I routinely see Stereophile publish measurements from an acceleromet...
Back to the drawing board I can highly recommend GIK Soffit traps below 100 Hz. Traps don't have to remove a mode entirely, just help drain the energy, then an EQ can take over. So, a partial solution, that is aesthetically pleasing, can do the trick.
Back to the drawing board I don’t know if people realize just how BAD room modes below 100 Hz can be.I’ve measured +- 20 dB in extremely narrow bands. That’s about 100x the power output. With output variations like this it is impossible to get the bass to integrate with th...
Back to the drawing board Also, sometimes after getting good room treatment you may want a sub less. This can really open up the sound and make the bass feel much deeper.
Back to the drawing board It's a shame this is so hard. The biggest issues in my mind with subs are getting the EQ right. Below 100 Hz are where the monsters of audio are. Smaller subs avoid this just because they are smaller subs. Lots of subs built-in auto-EQ / room corr...
Free SPL Meter App - From a US Government Agency Related: For Android, pick up AudioTools (free) with a calibrated microphone for $22https://amzn.to/2R8LHg8Great way to set up your HT as well as do basic measurements. Best,E
Hihat Question One quick test you should do is sit about 1-2 feet away from your speakers. Can you hear the balance improve? If the answer is yes, then you need better room acoustics. If the answer is no, then your speakers to source are to blame.
Hihat Question Dude, how about the tone controls on your integrated?? |
