Luxman Integrated - What do they sound like Thanks @ bjesien and @pokey77 for your detailed comparisons! I appreciate it. It really sounds like a brand I might really like. I'll try to make time to go to my local (but not that local) dealer over the next couple of weeks.
Luxman Integrated - What do they sound like I'd think the 509X is the better, probably a little sweeter sounding but nearly twice the cost. It is supposed to have the first 2W in Class A. This beast consumes 150 W while idling!! I doubt its just the first 2W. :)
Mytek Brooklyn DAC+ or Weiss DAC202 with RED BOOK PLAYER I have the Mytek Brooklyn but not the plus version. It does a wonderful job with Redbook. It is one of the DACs that helped me realize how much better DACs are now than they were 15 years ago. Until now, improvements seemed to happen in the high re...
Impedence Matching Help Needed I really really think this is all very complicated and not worth anything for it. Get a decent preamp and be done with it.
Measuring impedance with multimeter You can measure speaker impedance using Room EQ Wizard and a home made harness. https://www.roomeqwizard.com/help/help_en-GB/html/impedancemeasurement.htmlI personally recommend DATS V2 as a complete, out of the box solution:http://www.daytonaudio...
Tube pre for class d recommendations If class D is so good, why do you need a tube pre? Why not a class D pre? There aren't any. There's no cost/design effectiveness in a preamp being class D. It's far simpler to go Class A, and you don't waste the same amounts of heat. You could ...
Where is great audio going? - Headphones and Mid-Cost hence the lowering of expectations for HEA for the masses. Or just shifting of the price point at which we think HEA exists. Personally, I'd rather sit with people who love music and can put a fabulous system together for peanuts than sit alone...
Luxman MT-88 Step up transformer pairing Hi Wado! This is something you can tell for yourself in the output levels and noise. If you feel you have to turn up the volume too much, or are hearing too much noise at the right level, that's where a step up transformer will help. Of course, pr...
Side by side comparison of HT processor possible? By far the biggest difference is room correction software. How well it works, and how much you like the end result.
Luxman Integrated - What do they sound like The comparisons to Parasound are a big help. I owned A23s for a while (2 amps) and I can't hear a difference between that and my current amps (ICEpower 250 ASP).
Tube pre for class d recommendations I havne’t tried this directly, but based on the ICEpower 250 modules in my amps, and how they sound, I’d suggest some modern Audio Research. They are less analytical than their past, not quite as chocolate/syrupy as CJ, but certainly a little more...
How to DIY yourself very nice Class D monoblocks I seriously doubt there's an SMPS in any audio amplifier that's as life threatening as the big linear supplies resting in the heart of any class A amp What's life threatening is high voltages. It only takes a few milliamps to stop your heart. I...
Are high sample rates making your music sound worse? but it’s rather silly if you understand the room to be over 50% of the sound from a pair of speakers. And if you doubt that figure, set up the hifi in the garage or basement. I would honestly say this is conservative. I've measured rooms, and ...
Highest BUILD quality tube amps? Also, Audio research can repair any product it’s ever made But their build quality is kind of standard level. Aside from the knobs. I mean, it's not bad, but the choice of tubes and caps and circuit accounts for 100% of the sound of that gear. I...
How to DIY yourself very nice Class D monoblocks Belles reference 150 v2 class ’B’ amp Well, that certainly IS what is claimed. Interestingly, and sadly, none of the reviews I’ve found explain it. I know of no class B circuit which allows an amplifier to operate without significant distortion t... |
