What are "true" balanced connectors
By comparison, a true balanced situation is when the (+) and (-) and ground are separate, and the (-) carries the opposite of the (+) signal. By reading both the (+) and (-) and summing them electronically you can cancel out noise picked up along ...
What are "true" balanced connectors
XLR bridged : Same electrical properties as an RCA connector. The XLR connector is there for convenience only. It will work, but you loose the fantastic noise cancellation possible by a true XLR cable. This "bridge" is done by shorting the (-) and...

Any specific series from Monitor? I like them all, but Silver is more punchy, platinum much more neutral and reference quality. Platinum better for a variety of music and HT. You should listen for yourself, but also scout around for sales. Audio ...
Difference between app on computer vs smart tv or streaming devices
One unexpected difference I have found has been with Netflix. It seems I can stream 5.1 netflix via my Oppo but not my Roku premiere.
DVD-audio to DAC
Yes, but you have to make sure your DVD is set to output stereo PCM, or your DAC will just play static. :) I do this with my Oppo right now.

Does streaming defy the laws of physics?
Hi ezstreams! So the Internet only works because digits are transmitted with perfect reliability, or it absolutely breaks. I can't read your post here on Audiogon, I can't save it, and I can't do anything unless this is true. Now, as for real time...

The Border Patrol DAC - Maybe linearity in a DAC is bad ... Spitballing
Anyway, I don't know anythiung for sure, I'm just spit balling about compresion, and air and dynamics. I used to think more air = more linear. I'm not sure now. :)
The Border Patrol DAC - Maybe linearity in a DAC is bad ... Spitballing
Apparently I like the decay and transparency of a typical DAC because I felt the Border Patrol sucked the life right out of my system. If I interpret this as a loss of dynamics, it would be too much compression. It’s not that it’s literally rem...
