Which Class D Amplifier? PS Audio, Ghent, Nord, Merrill or other???
I’m fed up with the relentless attacks against George being posted on this thread. If members don’t stop the nonsense, then I hope the moderators shut down this thread. The attacks aren't personal. They are based on his behavior. He really has ...
Do you ever do this before you listen?
@barnettk You already know as much as I do about Netti pots. I just keep track of obscure ways in which people die too. Best,E
Which Class D Amplifier? PS Audio, Ghent, Nord, Merrill or other???
George has stated he has heard a variety of class D designs in a variety of threads. Funny thing that George can cut and paste the same web links over and over again, but has trouble doing the same for his personal opinions. I daresay George has ...
Do you ever do this before you listen?
@barnettk I can confirm that sinus rinsing work. At the very least the irrigation with salts really is very soothing, and sometimes can help end allergies a little faster. I cheat and use the squeeze bottle variety:https://amzn.to/2THzjjYPlease be...
What are "true" balanced connectors
Galvanic isolation isn’t a requirement for a balanced circuit.True. The transformer output, unless it is center tapped, is only differential, which is where the value is anyways as far as common mode noise rejection is concerned. Yes, but it prov...
Mytek Brooklyn overkill?
I like the Brooklyn, but I also like the NAD 3020D, which is a DAC, amp and Bluetooth receiver.
What can anyone say about Quarter Wavelength transmission line enclosure design ?
I have read, but am no authority, that the math for TL's is not very well established, unlike say creating a sealed or normal ported enclosure. This makes getting it right a lot harder.
What are "true" balanced connectors
Balanced means that the + and - amplitudes of the signal are referenced equally to ground. Not a requirement when using transformers which are not center tapped, as was the case for many decades. In the old days, you'd use a single amplifier outp...
What are "true" balanced connectors
Sleepwalker: Balanced signals used to be transmitted by transformer outputs and inputs which were galvanically isolated. Best,E
DAC chips
+1 @mahler123Implementation matters a great deal. Shopping by chip is like shopping purely by spec. If I was forced to give an answer though, I seem to prefer older Burr Brown and current AK chips.
The Border Patrol DAC - Maybe linearity in a DAC is bad ... Spitballing
In the Stereophile 2nd opinion review the reviewer specifically mentions that the Border Patrol sounds like the Benchmark, but with a vintage tube compressor inserted. Good find, I missed it. Also, given the difference in non-linearity and diff...
What are "true" balanced connectors
Each signal is actually referrenced to ground,Not universally true. Best,E
2 channel setup
Room acoustics??
What are "true" balanced connectors
sleepwalker is correct.A "true balanced input" means the + and minus of the input are differential, and not referenced to ground. A "true balanced" amp means that both outputs are driven. Most amps only drive the red output. The Parasound A21 as w...
Power conditioner and high end power cord
I think your mileage will vary depending on your own situation. Your other home devices, your location, how well the power supply in your gear deals with the particular combination of noise, and voltages you have. My favorite, cost effective solut...
