Affordable Streamer with great Internet Radio, Tidal, Android support? @wtj3 What did you like about the Aurender ? It’s not just about picking a streamer for me, it is about an ecosystem. I’d like something I can play through the bedroom which is right now an SBT. OR ....I run speaker cables into the bedroom and use...
Is my DAC my weakest link? The issue with DACs is that modern one's (< 10 years old) do much better with Redbook (44 kHz / 16 bit) playback than old DACs. If you can hear a big jump in sound quality when you go to high resolution, that goes away with most DACs today. I l...
Blind Testing is Dead - Long live My Wallet testing. I don’t see many, or any, agon members blindly following reviewers. I don’t either, but I think the repeated controversies over this is notable. As I’ve said among many issues, from amplifier design to cables, it’s a real shame to me that testing ...
Affordable Streamer with great Internet Radio, Tidal, Android support? Let me clarify, the online Internet radio search has helped me find good stations around the world I enjoy, but now I am set in my ways and don't often use it.The Tidal app is not dynamic, which may be a good thing. It's best if I use the web app ...
Affordable Streamer with great Internet Radio, Tidal, Android support? To answer a couple of questions at once:I'm using Logitech Media Server right now, and have a Squeezebox Touch in another room.In my main room I'm using the server, via Raspberry Pi. For my own music and Internet radio it's pretty good, but the Ti...

What Shunyata and Furman (SMP) Have in common - Inductance! Hi @don_c55 You make a good argument, no I have not. Care to send me one? :) Best,E
HDCD rescue - it's possible, but man... Third, have you the 'experience' that more accurate loudspeakers(I have just replaced B&W 802d2's with d3's) render such speakers a virtual necessity where discernment of instruments and voices in orchestral and ensemble music is sought I ...
HDCD rescue - it's possible, but man... Hi @seventies , First, how do you rate 24/96 PCM versus DSD 64 an DSD 128 or 256 ?15 years ago I'd have preferred DSD. Today it's a really tough call. Maybe no difference. DAC's' have improved so much that the difference between Redbook and hi-res...
Electrolytic 4 poles Jenson vs Mundorf Hi,Can you be MUCH more specific? How much uF? What specific types of Jensen vs. Mundorf? What's' the application? Best,E
What Shunyata and Furman (SMP) Have in common - Inductance! No matter how big the coil inductance is, there still will be a small amount of sound smearing due to lag. Show your work. The idea that lag in the power supply = smearing of audio needs more validation.
Blind Testing is Dead - Long live My Wallet testing. Hi millercarbonI believe it, and 0.3 dB puts it in the realm of cables. So all this cable and noise filtering are just fancy tone controls.
Personal confuser Audio which aspect has the greatest impact on SQ? just how relevant is a stand alone DAC in developing the digital signal anymore? I think the issue is one of control, and upgrades. I mean, if you find an all in one you like, you should absolutely buy it. Fewer parts, smaller, fewer cables. Es...
Blind Testing is Dead - Long live My Wallet testing. Gang,I got a funny pair of e-mails from someone who did not want to get into an argument, but who then immediately wanted to argue with me! < hahahahah >I'll keep his name out of here, but I did want to make something clear:I do think it is ...
What Shunyata and Furman (SMP) Have in common - Inductance! Coils cause a time lag in the drawing of AC into the equipment! With a high enough L, XL drops to near zero and therefore the difference between current and voltage goes to zero as well. Best,E |
