Room correction help
Don't forget the ceiling. :) If you can't put enough on the floor, the ceiling can compensate. Also, check out GIK. Not only are they high value, they have art panels you can have custom screened.
How many of you believe in MQA?
Hi @Gregm,I meant that in theory, humans should not be able to hear better than 44/16.
How many of you believe in MQA?
PS - Before anyone says it's my hearing, I had an old DAC and a new DAC at the same time and was able to compare side by side.
How many of you believe in MQA?
192 is not inherently superior to 96 is not superior to 44.1. This is a marketing myth. AD or DA is clock, chip, analog parts and filter.  Sample rate is not the primary factor in quality.  And engineers adjust each session for the subjectively...
Dreaming of a DIY 8W Class A amp designed by Nelson Pass?
Again, the sound improved when I went back down to a single board with it's own power supply. Didn't need the extra power at all. Which is Pass' whole point, simpler is better. An approach others have taken one way or another. CJ with their PV p...
The one tweak most Focals need ...
Ozzy : Often via either a panel in the back, or the woofer.
Lesser line with more shine than big brothers
Smaller speakers often do better in an untreated room, so it's common in my mind that you could find some example of this. Across lines, I've heard amps rated less power which sounded more powerful, but not within the same brand.
Please Make Audiogon Cool
3 minutes between the time I posted something and the time you replied. I feel we really should start planning some sort of future together, Miller. Are you into sports? Beaches?? How do you feel about adopting?
Output Impedance and Speaker Impedance
Use whatever you'd like. You won't damage the amp.The idea behind multiple impedance taps is to attempt to keep the power output constant. Without them, lower impedance speakers would suffer a reduction in power. Best,Erik
Time to buy a class D amp?
they're all so noisy anybody who has had years of experience in audio file systems well tell you that class D amps are just for beginners Noise is what the Class D amps have least of. I suggest anyone considering a Class D amp to listen for them...
I'm not even quite sure how to phrase my question, but here it goes...
@audiomazeThey are different mathematical ways to deal with aliasing. For the most part, they affect the high frequency reproduction. Technically they each have their pros and cons but practically you should listen and decide for yourself which yo...
General question about tube preamps and gain
It makes sense. You are saying you have gain related syrup. But please, no, just switch your preamp. :) If you are otherwise enamored of your preamp, consider new coupling caps instead?
Why does streaming need to be so complex
PS - Have you checked out hte latest miniDSP ? They have streaming + DSP correction in the digital domain now.
Why does streaming need to be so complex
Lack of an industry standard for services, iPhone/iPad only support and an ever changing eco system. This is a major reason, in addition to cost, I've yet to be able to leave my Logitech Music Server. In addition to hosting my ripped and downloade...
Bookshelf Speakers that have to be up against the wall
Also, like Erik said, do not get a speaker with a rear port if you are going to push it up against the wall. Make sure it has a front port. Actually I was being a little more nuanced than this. Designing a speaker to be on a counter, near a wall...
