Digital Only Preamps - What's out there now?
I had no idea that existed, @stereo5, thanks!!
Parasound A21+ or PS Audio S700 monos?
Doh!!! In the interest of brutal honesty I'd like to partially retract my previous statement. I owned the smaller, A23's not the A21s. Sorry, my bad, I always get them confused due to the bigger number being the smaller amp. My anti-fans will reme...
OMG, just removed my speaker grills and the sound just opened up to a new level!
Well, I don't know about "new level" but the effects of grills on output are readily measured.  Not just damping, but causing excess refraction, and making what would otherwise be very smooth output ragged, something I'm pretty sensitive to. @Ozzy...
Parasound A21+ or PS Audio S700 monos?
I know this is a little dated information, I’ve had the original A21, ICEpower amplifiers at the same time, which I’ve seen in at least some PS Audio amps. I could literally not hear a difference, so I sold the A21. However, I finally swapped thos...
Measure power output without oscilloscope
What, exactly is the purpose? How are you going to measure the power output?
Digital Only Preamps - What's out there now?
How about the Bricasti M21 or M12? << BUZZER >> These are just DAC's with volume control. Mytek products, given built in switching and phono preamps are closer, but even then, they aren't the same. They lack ADC and even the most rud...
Totem Arro Replacement
I only recommend speaker kits if I think the OP is kit-curious, or just sound bored. :) I mean, of course I start threads about it, and they are generally well received, but I don't mind people buying commercial.  What I want to get out of more au...
Totem Arro Replacement
Try the Fritz models.  Bespoke designs, the 6.5" sliced-paper mid woofer used is really outstanding.
Is Auto Room Correction Right For You? Well, Here You Go...
One of the best things auto-calibration systems can do is integrate the subwoofer to the main speakers for you, something most audiophiles have to guess at.
~$6K mini-monitor recommendations?
What about a Falcon Acoustics LS3/5A ?? I have no first hand experience, but they seem fun and suited to the task.
Demo'ing Class A amps, Appreciation Suggestions from those who recently been there
Hi OP,Triad: Three of something.  I meant if you listen to Pass, Luxman and Ayre (that's' the triad) you'll have a really good idea of what you want. Best,E
Can speakers sound worse during break-in period?
I am most fond of posters who argue one thing one day, and then within the same thread argue exactly the opposite. That kind of gymnastics will always be pretty amazing to watch.
Demo'ing Class A amps, Appreciation Suggestions from those who recently been there
If people are in this price range, my three suggestions, for you to sample different takes are the following:PassAyreLuxmanand since you are coming from tubes, might even want to try out the ARC integrated. I think between the Pass, Ayre, Luxman t...
Tone controls -- assuming you're ok with them, when would you try them?
A quiet EQ with carefully selected parts is better than at least half of the old school EQ's.  Especially the analog pro Behringers for instance.  Noisy, cheap parts for the most part.  Not all were the same, but hey, if you could get a Cello... t...
Roon's update sounds really good
The Ethernet cable is [also] a big problem. It runs long and can pick up low-frequency noise which cannot be filtered out. It’s balanced, twisted, shielded, ground isolated. If it wasn’t perfect most offices wouldn’t function.
