Has anyone heard the Lexicon MC-10 processor and can they describe its characteristics. I'm not a Marantz fan per se, they are just readily available.I have no such issue with my AVM 50. It sounds great. I'm using it to feed my Luxman integrated, so I can assure you it does not have that shrill cold sound of some mass market units. ...
What’s your system look like?... I have not heard your speakers, but the tweeter comes from a very highly respected family of devices used by several high end makers, like YG and Magico (in the past). They are really transparent and extended with nothing to call attention to the...
Help on diy cable construction Parts Express is a great source for the braided sheathsParts Connexion and Sonicraft are great for the hardwareUsually you use a shrink wrap to hold the braided ends in place. Also, get a hot knife, or hot knife accessory cutter to a solder GUN (t...
Has anyone heard the Lexicon MC-10 processor and can they describe its characteristics. Um, so old. Consider an Anthem or Marantz. Plenty of those around in the used or refurbished market.
Break-in ? About 100 hours is the most I'd expect any speaker driver to take to burn in. My experience with caps is around 48-72 hours. Magico's top end uses Mundorf EVO caps, and I have no idea what the burn-in time for those are, but IMHO Magico doesn't de...
Schiit Loki Glad you are happy with it. :) The quality of tone controls is very device dependent. We spend fortunes on tweaks to accomplish what this little device can do with the twist of a knob. Yep. Listening to music recorded over decades, with differe...

ditch the Krell FPB 400cx for my 'new' Sophia 2's? The D'Agostinos I've heard with recent Wilsons were outstanding. The Luxman's not far behind it. If you get a chance to audition the integrated Luxmans in your system you should.
Distance between speakers - are the physics what they are? What you need for cramped speakers is good dispersion control. Check out the Hsu monitors or the JBL powered monitors. Both relatively small, horn loaded tweets.
Subwoofer Question Spend all the money you were going to spend on a 2nd sub and treat your room first. Talk to GIK. Then see if you still feel a 2nd sub is needed.
Should I be able to hear a 4Hz difference in my speakers? Should also say, as some one who loves 2-way speakers, if you want to hear better bass, consider the room acoustics. They can make your speakers sound bigger and tighter. Talk to GIK Acoustics and in particular ask them about their soffit traps.
Should I be able to hear a 4Hz difference in my speakers? You can't hear 4 Hz. There are many other things that are going on, from the frequency response, difference in distortion in the drivers as well as the dispersion. The frequency range specifications don't really do enough to tell you how the speak...
Anthem STR preamp vs Integrated amp preamp section Hi @cbrents73 - I'm curious if you have a line up refresh coming up, and/or major feature upgrades in the works ? Especially in your HT line. Thanks,Erik
Lee Konitz Dead At 92 Very sorry for the loss.I didn't' have my glasses on this morning, and I read "Lenny Kravitz dead at 92" and I thought, "wow he didn't look his age..."
Jazz for someone who doesn't like jazz. I want to be clear, if you don't like Trombone Shorty, you are dead inside. I mean, stone cold dead. ;-) |
