In Defense of Audiophiles, Bose, Pass, Toole and Science I'll throw in a measurement which may go the wrong way. Linearity of a DAC. The linearity is basically that as the signal level changes (and this can be sample to sample) is the output correctly matching the input? Much like the linearity of a ...
Using a Rel Sub with a dedicated center channel Could the sub potentially fill in the 60-120 hz range for the center channel though? You mean like your two existing subs are now?? I'm not sure you understand how this works in HT. The HT processor is already sending this to your existing subs....
Removing a ZERO from the price of amps Don't forget the Mytek Brooklyn Amp, among many other tiny, powerful Class D offerings. I haven't heard it, but if Mytek wants to send me one for review... I'll be happy to write it up.
Luxman L509X fuse type I have the 507ux, and just realized it does not have an external fuse holder of any sort. I'm a little bit in shock. I've not seen this in forever.
In Defense of Audiophiles, Bose, Pass, Toole and Science I am not sure what kind of science and measurements Bose are using to build their speakers, but I find most of them absolutely amazing in terms of size/price/sound ratio. And you just answered your own question, and why people buy them.
Luxman L509X fuse type I just looked online. I'm not sure, but in a pinch, and in the US use a 3A slow blow fuse. You may be able to use slightly higher, but wait for confirmation.
Luxman L509X fuse type Dude, Just shoot Luxman an e-mail, they are super responsive. :) Erik
Blown driver Is it possible your housekeeper tried to vacuum the drivers?? It is quite common unless you explain ahead of time. I'd suggest you buy 2, and use the other one only when needed.Best,E
Is Bluetooth friendly with high-end DAC's ? Never had this happened, but these are wireless signals, and involve computers. I assume you've unplugged your DAC, waited 30 seconds and turned it back on??Also, sometimes some devices are just over rated for heat. That is, they get over heated...
In Defense of Audiophiles, Bose, Pass, Toole and Science The Concorde was a fabulous aircraft. Unfortunately it kept crashing. To be clear, only one crashed. The remaining fleet flew off the edge of the world and were never found. Same happened to my uncle's family. That flat earth is a killer.
How does adding a second subwoofer improve your systems SQ? Thank you for the kind words @hilde45It's hard to tell without measurements, honestly, but before you get to your second subwoofer, the room treatment and EQ could be considered. With 1 sub, and good room treatment, properly set up, it can be magn...
How does adding a second subwoofer improve your systems SQ? I wrote all about this here:https://speakermakersjourney.blogspot.com/2020/04/how-to-not-buy-subwoofer.html
In Defense of Audiophiles, Bose, Pass, Toole and Science In my opinion, one of the concepts Amar Bose got right was this: The spectral content and amount of energy in the reverberant field matters. His measurements of typical ratios of direct to reflected sound in a concert hall led to the Bose 90...
Low volume listening dynamics You need a loudness switch or speakers tuned to be loud. What I mean is, a frequency response characteristic that promotes the treble and bass. You can get this via electronics, or you can find speakers that have this built-in.Brands that come imm...
In Defense of Audiophiles, Bose, Pass, Toole and Science Another pair of mistakes quasi-scientists make are the following two, related points:Equating absence of evidence as being equal to evidence of absence, something no beginning researcher or statistician would doBelieving that we know everything al... |
