I can prove your room is bad
Actually its spot on.Buddy, I was making a joke and giving Duke a platform to make the point.

ARC/DSP EQ are good tools.  They are not better alone, nor are they as good as room treatment.  They are very complementary. For instance, it's much easier to treat room modes and nulls with than without room treatment.Given no alternatives, you s...
Best improvement for the buck
Your room, or your DAC/pre. If your sources are limited, I'd get a Mytek Brooklyn + which has a built in phono.
I can prove your room is bad
I'm going to throw this discussion back at you, @audiokinesis ... My original point was to help audiophiles figure out if the direct speaker signal was making it well enough to their seat, without tools. Your question is, literally and figurativel...

So if the speaker’s off-axis response is poor, would you expect the room to fix it? @audiokinesis Oh, no, not me. :) That’s why I stated in the OP that the difference is in fact the combination of the room and speaker dispersion. Best,E

It's supposed to greatly diminish the room problems/ need for lots of treatment. We'll see. Only for the bass. All the discussions of multiple subs eliminating a room are about room modes in the bass region.  The rest of the speaker range is still...

Way to make audiophiles even more neurotic than they already are!Sir, you have your hobbies and I have mine.  ;-)
Your One Bullet Point Solution; Electrical Upgrade
Hey @ejr1953 - I don’t think that’s a down grade, honestly. I know it looks impressive, but look at the clamping voltage. The in-panel units should be rated the same, and are cheaper in large part because they don’t take an extra case. The only do...
Blown driver
It could be anything, vacuuming or aggressive dusting could have left something in the voice coil.

Using a Rel Sub with a dedicated center channel
The lower in F you go, the more power the receiver has to put out. That is, the power shifts from the subwoofer to the receiver, so that's a little bit of a concern, also, the more bass a small speaker plays, the more distortion. Without seeing wh...
Trying to fix specific issues with my listening area
One final tip, a great way to assess room vs. speaker/amp issues is to get up close to the speaker. Unfortunately this may be a little loud, but see if your perception of the problem changes next to the speaker, or is worse.  If it changes, it's t...

Room acoustics are  a great first step, they'll live with you no matter what you find. I have experienced room acoustics as the root cause of problems similar to what you are experiencing.  The amount of reflected high frequency hash makes things ...
Using a Rel Sub with a dedicated center channel
I just looked at the specs, after @auxinput commented. I’m not sure large is the right answer, but 120 Hz seems like a very high cut off. 80 Hz is the THX standard, and a better compromise. The problem with setting them to large is potentially more...
Blown driver
Well, it could be the vacuum, or dusting, don't blame the house keeper, I can't tell you how many people have walked into my home and immediately wanted to touch the drivers or push them in.  Unless you take the time to explain what seems normal t...
