Speakers which always sound good
If we are talking the SF Stradivari, I'm with you.  Those wide baffle speakers seem to ignore room acoustics a great deal.
Am I too big of a jerk, even for audiogon?
Well that's one giant non-sequitor @buellrider97Shouldn't you be on twitter harassing reporters??
Am I too big of a jerk, even for audiogon?
You definitely post for attention and to get a reaction out of people by being controversial and a bit polarizing at timesI absolutely do, but I do so in part because I care about the environment in A’gon. Having thought provoking discussions abou...
Discussion of Class D Amps Application & Experiences
I went from:Parasound P7 / A23s toP7 / IcePower 250 ASP to Luxman 507uxThe first change was audibly neutral. I could not tell the difference between the Parasound A23s and the equivalent IcePower modules, for the good and the bad. I switched to Lu...
Amp placement when switching from separates to integrated
I haven't found putting things between he speakers ruins the sound stage so much as adds a great deal of harshness.  This can be ameliorated by adding absorbers on the sides, and floor around the area. It is always a good idea IMHO to add carpets ...
Am I too big of a jerk, even for audiogon?
If this reported self-evaluation is sincere,It is not.
Downside to "revealing" system?
One thing that should not be overlooked is the panel/woofer interactions with the room. I strongly encourage you to consider reaching out to GIK acoustics for help.
Does the first reflection point actually matter??
Imo "best acoustic principles" in a small room includes correct PLACEMENT of acoustic treatments. And that unless you are in a small home recording studio, where you can touch the left and right walls at the same time, the correct placement being ...
Does the first reflection point actually matter??
If I understand correctly, you are still looking at small rooms as if they were large ones, where 20% wall coverage has the same effect no matter where that 20% is located. My gods we are being so literal.  I'm saying that if best acoustic princ...
What tube pre-amps pair well with Pass amps?
When comparing Focals and any amp, pay particular attention to the mid bass. They tend to be above-average demanding and therefore suppressing output this region. There's no right answer, you might like it suppressed, giving you a built-in loudnes...
Automatic Room Correction has won the Subwoofer Wars
I DO have reservations about using EQ to "correct" the ROOM north of the bass region. I can explain the distinction between the two if anyone is interested. A distinction shared by Toole which I have to agree with.  Don't get crappy speakers ...
Does the first reflection point actually matter??
My reservations about using absorption on the entire surface,Also not what I meant, sorry.  I meant treating the surface appropriately.  That rarely means covering the entire surface but considering the entire surface. You have this 1" by 1" refle...
House buying and the aspiring audipihile
OMG, had forgotten about the Mellow Mushroom!!! I used to live in Atlanta and we had them.
Automatic Room Correction has won the Subwoofer Wars
So yes, the DRC systems really do help in setting up subs. (And as Erik said, this is independent of the EQ features.) Even more important is the measuring mic, its software, and the patience to learn how to use them. And that's my point.
Downside to "revealing" system?
Did I step on your toes by merely explaining to your audience something they might want to consider in making a choice of what kind of tone controls might be important to them No, but the 509x has great tone controls for the OP to try before ...
