The last 20 years of Home Power Have Been Amazing
Hey @bigtwin - As of 2020, whole house surge protection is required by the NEC, but regional codes may say otherwise. I really did it wrong. I spent 3 days installing a garbage disposal thinking the entire time I should have raised children to do...
The last 20 years of Home Power Have Been Amazing
Worth including actual results, which I just found.  Seems that all these improvements have been leading somewhere good after all!   https://iaeimagazine.org/electrical-safety/a-quarter-century-of-protecting-homes-occupants/
What Speaker Cables Taught Me About Audiophiles
+1 for pure silver IC's. Bleah for silver plated anything.
using two outputs from a dac?
It wont hurt anything to try but you may experience tonal changes and a loss if high frequency
is there an (AV receiver) type device that doesn't have amplifier/preamplifiers?
I think your easiest route is to use your TV’s S/PDIF digital outputs (usually optical?)  to a basic 2 channel DAC (see Topping). Just have to tell your TV to only send 2 channel sound. Use that as the input to your integrated and you are done.
GROUNDING - assistance on how NOT to shock yourself
Well, you can add some humidity in a variety of ways, by putting a pan of water on a hot surface.  Not your amps, of course, but if you have radiant heat or something like that.  The mats DO work, just not sure what the discharge rate is.  They a...
GROUNDING - assistance on how NOT to shock yourself
OP: I just thought of something. Maybe a static discharge mat like these would work for you? They offer a high impedance path to ground, so it may take a few seconds to dissipate a static charge you build up. Not honestly sure how well they’d wo...
GROUNDING - assistance on how NOT to shock yourself
I’d discourage you from using your gear as a ground path. You may have several pieces of gear that are already grounded, and when you walk across the rug you build up a charge. The problem is that the discharge can induce a pop or surge inside you...
Help with Equitech 1.5Q power conditioner
I am actually more than a little surprised that there even IS a GFCI outlet on a conditioner.  I'm not sure what the point of it is unless it's within 6' of a sink... :D In any event, GFCI outlets are pretty standard.  If you know how to use a sc...
How many subs?

using two outputs from a dac?
Both will be live.  No issues so long as both devices have relatively high input impedance. 25K or higher for each should be more than adequate.
Where to Place Network Switch
My usual advice is to focus on wall warts and cable routing. Keep any power supplies (i.e. wall warts) for your network away from power you’ve cleaned with a conditioner and keep IC’s and power cables away from Ethernet cables. Of course, using se...
Tweeters with or without fluid?
@dickface - Obviously your mileage may vary, but search DIYaudio and you’ll find lots of discussions about cleaning out old tweeter voice coils with dirty or gummed up ferrofluid. That’s the only reason I know about this. I don’t know however how...
Tweeters with or without fluid?
Not exactly a scientific poll, but of about 160 tweeters available at Madisound only about 30 advertise the use of ferrofluid.
Anthem ARC and Subwoofers - A quick review
@m-db - I should add that I have a number of GIK acoustics bass traps as well which really help control the worst of the room issues, so that gives me a little help in using sub-optimal locations.  At the end my sub is against the left wall about ...
