Experience With Cutler Hammer (Eaton) CH Series Panels Another thing, if this is new construction, consider where your cable modem and wifi router will be. You might want to run fiber between them, and locate the wifi router in a more wifi optimal location than the cable modem. The main reason for the...
Experience With Cutler Hammer (Eaton) CH Series Panels Well, Federal Pacific were among the most notoriously bad panels ever made. Not only did the back planes make poor contact but the breakers often failed to trip on overload. Square D, Siemens, Eaton CH are all really good. My preference is for in...
B&W 802 : Nautilus v Diamond / & Focal 1027be My one big tip is that B&W tend to sound a little better listening on the midrange than on the tweeter axis. A little lower than most listeners expect.
Best Covers I really like Johnny Cash's Personal Jesus. I'm not sure it's about the music as much as it is that he's singing Depeche Mode but I always enjoy it.
New Focal Aria Evo line I have not, but Focal cycles their models frequently with tiny or no changes. Check Music Direct or Audio Advisor for steep discounts on the "old" models.
Sharing a subwoofer between a Stereo and HT combination. My advice is to audition a Marantz processor and external amps. I haven't gotten to listen to all Japanese HT brands but I've heard some that really sounded thin by comparison to Marantz or high end processor brands. Marantz is the cheapest I kn...
Dedicated line help Go ahead and run 20A circuit, it's basically the same cost. I keep my noisy stuff on a separate power conditioner than my analog. I also use ifi Wall wart adapters wherever possible and use shielded power cables and interconnects. It doesn't so...
Speakers - Your "Safest" Choice Somewhere around the JBL and Klipsch Heresys honestly. The top end Vandersteen are in the range but for the type of music being played I think a horn loaded box that isn't too demanding on amplification is the way to go.
Started with $1k speakers … what now? @lanx0003 This is the first time I've heard of AR (Acoustic Research?) having a hand in series crossovers. What's your source for this statement?
Clock vs Streamer advice All PC’s but Mac lapotps in particular have a couple of issues related to power and grounding. Get a USB isolator and consider keeping your laptop charger off while listening to music OR move it outside your power conditioner clean area OR get a l...
Luxman leaves me wanting @dweller Schiit does make a 4 band tone control/EQ, and with a Luxman you can put it between the preamp and the amp sections, but Luxman's own tone controls are not bad either. I think the OP should experiment a little more with them first.
What qualities stand out in really good solid state preamps? So for me, sounds more like a Conrad Johnson than an Audio Research. 😁 I like colorful liars with excellent dynamics and imaging. The midrange is especially important along with a treble that doesn't call attention to itself. I'm less concerne...
3-4 dB dip at crossover region: what should I listen for to hear it? OP: I dont' know about better, but I heard the Klipsch Heresy's with a Rogue integrated and really liked them.
Luxman leaves me wanting Hi OP: I think that swapping amps for a tonal imbalance problem is the second worst way to do so. The first is to buy new cables. Your description sounds like you are missing bass, not mids per se. There’s a couple of things I think you should t...
Amp, Preamp, two volume pots, there can be only one! There's no technically best answer here, since the actual gain isn't being adjusted. I think @mesch answer is pretty sweet though. That is, I don't think the amp volume control will affect the character of the sound at all, just noise, so make y... |
