Single driver loudspeakers
i don't think so. :)  However, you can build your own single driver speakers fairly inexpensively and try them out. For some they are magical and refuse to ever go back to multi-way.  Here are some basic, but good quality kits.  If I wasn't up to ...
Krell lat 1000
Never heard them, but I like the tweeter they used a great deal. :) I also really like the mid-range drivers a lot. Devil is in the implementation. Best,Erik
Going to rip 2000 cds. Which software?
Linux PC with Sound Juicer to start with. :) Under $600 for 2TB, it can be your ripper and player.  Make sure you buy the fastest CD reader you can though. :) Alternatively you can rip elsewhere to a shared drive, or drag and drop. ALAC or FLAC sh...
RCA terminated subwoofer cable
For the sub this would work just fine:http://amzn.to/2bEZViHFor your XLR's, how long? Erik
Room acoustics today and back to the 'teenth centuries...
I shoudl also mention that some companies, especially Yamaha, have experimented with attempting to recreate a number of listening venues digitally.  Press A) for stadium, B) for jazz club. All required extra speakers which were not what we'd call s...
Room acoustics today and back to the 'teenth centuries...
Not exactly.  The tools and materials are similar, but scale and amount and goals are different. The recordings you listen to already have the sound of the recording venue included.  When you play this back, you want to hear that, and not your own ...
Retooling the system upward?? What speakers would be a major upgrade over GET model 7's?
Hi Sunny,I'm afraid that subtlety of language (any) is not my strong suite. To me it sounds like you just told me you weren't dissatisfied, but you were dissatisfied! :) I used to do the same. Then I built my own speakers, like them so much I comp...
Retooling the system upward?? What speakers would be a major upgrade over GET model 7's?
Well, now, I didn't say DIY a single driver speaker! :) However for some that is exactly what would be most satisfying, and that is what matters.  I'm not on the one driver team, but any speaker building is fun and informative. One thing that I ha...
Would you go all 1 brand for electronics?
I have really not heard Jeff Rowland gear in a very long time. An early digital amp I heard was very sibilant, and I never had the chance to listen to more. There's not a lot of love here for the Brits here either, like Rega, Lynn or Cyrus. What's...
Outboard crossover? Why not?
You have to be SURE that you have an internal crossover! :) If so, then sure, jumper away. The tweeter, for instance, needs at least 1 cap to keep it from blowing. My current reference pair, there's no internal crossover at all, but you can't tell...
Auralic or arender?
A self-made Linux server with a BAD USB converter? :-) Of course, that’s among the most expensive USB to SPDIF converters there is, there are cheaper good alternatives such as Wyred4Sound, iFi, etc.You could make a mini PC with 2TB for $600 easily...
Marantz and Stereophile?
@cleeds I see the problem. I’m afraid I was thinking with inference which has been read as innuendo. My apologies for not making myself more clear. The inference chain is as follows:A) Stereophile is a company.B) All companies have many agendasC) ...
Would you go all 1 brand for electronics?
Well, I'm not saying going only 1 brand is right.  :)  Just wondering IF people had to, what they'd do.I like Bryston's looks a lot, and Classe, but not a lot of time hearing either. What about Primare, or... the ladybug like speaker company.... F...
Parasound p5 vs avr ???????
@213runnin Sound trumps all if you want to live with it. If you are going to resell it, that's another story. :) Erik

So the money isn't a factor? Best,Erik
