Is a Sub required for HT
Integrating the sub "well" is the key part. I say it’s difficult because it usually is. The goal in adding a sub to movies is of course extension, but you must also compensate for room modes as well as seamlessly blending the sub in with your sate...
Best SACD's
Just a general vote for Blue Coast Records. Small ensemble jazz and folk. No particular favorite yet but the latest from Jenna Mammina is outstanding. Fabulous attention to detail, and a lot of it is straight to DSD, as opposed to coming from anal...
Opinion on best hand held Remote?? Universal or RTI or---
I have never had a remote as bad as a Harmony. Locked up multiple times, terrible software, web interface terribly slow.  Others have had equally bad experience. URC is great, but may take a little effort to learn to program.Best,Erik

No....but!Your receiver's bass management will route all the bass to existing speakers.  The experience of watching a movie with a well i tegrated sub is transformative.  Especially naval movies, but integrating a sub well is a ton of work to do r...
Wilson Maxx II problem
Sub/woofer integration is a monster, so bass limited speakers often play better in room than larger.Bass traps, eq and room design are our friends.Erik
MQA - Music Discussion
I'm sorry, Phil Collins and Talking Heads are lost to us forever.
my speakers hum
OP:Get a digital V meter, something that reads down to 1V or less. Should be around $20.Connect it to your speakers while you hear the humming. Measure the AC V. Change speakers. Repeat. I think you’ll find that the AC V is the same. If so, this m...
my speakers hum
@eniac26 I think there may be a misunderstanding. If you are telling me you have a passive speaker, then there’s absolutely no way that swapping the speaker terminals would create or negate hum. If I misread what I was responding to, I’m sorry. If ...
In wall AC cables
@cleeds What exactly do you think is not allowed? 220V is an uncommon, but not illegal outlet type. Circuit breakers are rated for current in two ways. What current they trip at (15A, 20A, etc.) and the maximum current which they can interrupt, ca...
MQA - Music Discussion
So I've reached out to the local audiophile community that had a chance to listen to MQA in San Rafael, CA and other locations. Besides negative comments on the way the presentations were made the comments on the sound quality have ranged from "I...

@eniac26 Wouldn't make a difference at the speaker end. :) Best,Erik
Calling all room treatment type specialists...
But in case this point wasn’t made before, 1 single panel won’t do much in a room, unless it’s right next to your head. As part of a system of 6-10 panels, each does a part of the work. So as part of the entire room treatment, you may want to just...
In wall AC cables
There are other safety issues involved with overrating cables in that they may increase the minimum break current of circuit breakers. Voltage drop should be negligible. Now I think you misunderstood. First, 220V = 240V, really just about the same...
Shieded power cable with small gauge conductors
I am still laughing. If you tell me a PS needs small gauge wiring to sound good, it means the designers skimped on it and are using the very expensive cable to act like part of an RL filter which should have built into the design in the first plac...

Talk to your local printing and sign store. They may have a scanner big enough, or e able to point you to a photographer who could do it justice.
