My Daughter changed my Subwoofer settings! Phase is highly distance and crossover dependent. No reason to invert it as a default. Also, receivers may correct for distance, making a paper and pencil calculation of phase irrelevant. Best,Erik
KEF 205.2 or B&W 802D2? Delpi Good observations.... :) Erik
Center Splice Speaker Wire @gdhal Copper is a great material. One cool thing about it is that copper oxide is just as conductive as copper. That is, even after oxidizing it still works pretty well. :) Despite this, I still use WBT for my speakers. :D :D :D
Advice on best upgrade path for a Mac Mini setup Hi GIC,I wrote a blog about it actually. The short answer is, you use Ubuntu with Logitech Media Server. The complementary Android app I use is Squeezer but I believe there are others as well. http://inatinear.blogspot.com/2016/08/ubuntu-mytek-br...
My Daughter changed my Subwoofer settings! Refer to your receiver's manual then. :) It has built in room correction, and will need to be re-calibrated. Set the Low Pass filter to as high a Hz as you can, and let the receiver do the rest.Best,Erik
KEF 205.2 or B&W 802D2? Um, that you should listen to the top of the line Monitor Audio before making any choices. Also, if you will use this for movies at all, pay particular attention to the clarity of voices, especially when very soft. Now that I think about it, that'...
My Daughter changed my Subwoofer settings! Um, depends actually on your processor. What are you using, and how did you calibrate the sub? Usually, with fancy shmancy HT processors, you want the subwoofer to be "out of the way" of the HT settings. For that you can find instructions in the ...
High end vintage vs contemporary DAC's - are sonic improvements real? My own experience, having owned a Theta Casanova long after it’s prime, is that it’s sadly very much still touch and go. More than a decade after the Casanova was out of production it was still better sounding than a lot of mass market processors ...
You want the TRUTH from those Wilson Alexia's, maybe you can't handle the TRUTH @mapman No, I didn't say 10 watts was enough. What I meant was that too often reviewers focus on things like S/N at maximum output. If you have a 700 Watt amplifier, it may have a better S/N than a 100 watt amp, but in my house could be 4 times no...
You want the TRUTH from those Wilson Alexia's, maybe you can't handle the TRUTH @roxy54 Hahahahaha. :) Not far off the mark of the old SAE. Haven't heard the latest. While I appreciate power, I'm with Nelson Pass. I'm much more interested in the performance of an amp between 0 and 10 watts than 10 and 100. Best,Erik
Volume Controls - Can they affect Dynamic Range? Software volume is the same as digital volume controls. So, yes. Erik
Replacement for Matrix 803 S2 Of all possible choices, the GE would probably be more of the same. If you aren't happy with the B&W's you have, I'd be really surprised if you found the GE significantly different, but let your ears be the only judges. Best,Erik
Direct Digital Amplification Well I certainly hope the M32 sounds better than the M51 I heard two years ago. :D :D :D But no, the idea isn't really that new. If NAD can make it sound good at prices below the stratosphere it will be good for us for sure. Especially if there is...
Would increasing the gain in the amp give more weight to the sound? Any negatives? @czarivey Of course, I'm talking relatively. Unplug the amp and of course body will be affected too.In my experience however, an impedance mismatch is more likely to cause a weak, or whimpy sound than gain. Your mileage may vary.
Adding a 2nd Sub to a 2 Channel System Measurements would answer this question. While, in theory, a second sub, assymetrically placed, would help, the benefit could be very small. Bass Traps, and sub EQ (if not already there) are the first things to add. Then, if measurements suggest y... |
