Using tube amp with electrostatic speakers.
@bdp24 That's fantastic! For several reasons.  First, proves I don't make stuff up, which most readers think I do.  Next I am actually in the Bay Area so I'd love to. Best,Erik
Did I buy a counterfeit REL T5/i sub??
M&K claims counterfeit subs, among other things, drove them out of business. The factory in China that was making their subs was making more and selling them out the "back door" as it where. They were getting inquiries about a "piano black" su...
Mytek Brooklyn need Audiophilleo?
I thought of something after I left. Mytek DOES recommend an outboard power supply for the Brooklyn, 12V 2 Amps or more I believe are the specs. There's even a jack on the back to connect it.Best,Erik
Using tube amp with electrostatic speakers.
@tomcy6 I think your skepticism, in general, is well placed. I've seen speakers who have crossovers DELIBERATELY designed to be hard to drive.  That's not the case with electrostatics however. Plug: Has anyone seen my LM-1 monitor kits? Easy to...
fostex full rang p1000k
Not sure the size, but maybe experiment with the latest Foxtex full range drivers? They are on sale at Madisound.Best,Erik
Furman power conditioner on SMPS amps?
It always makes sense to use a surge protector. The Furman units with SMP are among the best, and include a filter that is active in the audio range, unlike a lot of other conditioners.  I have two Furman's, one with LiFT and one without, both wit...
Mytek Brooklyn need Audiophilleo?
It doesn't need it. I am running a Brooklyn from a Linux PC with USB 2.0, sounds fantastic. :) It's not so much the quality of the clock, but the circuitry around it, but you'll notice Brooklyn sounds great no matter the source type. Best,Erik

Hi @atmasphere To your own ears be true. :) Best,Erik
Musical Fidelity V90-AMP Noise Issue
IF it's hissing, turn it off. Sounds like a cap blew. If it's just buzzing or humming, it could be a bad cap, bad diodes or bad transformer.Either way, off to the shop it should go.Best,Erik
RMAF 2016................Boenicke W5
@gawdbless Your observations are correct. Speakers with less bass extension get into trouble less frequently than larger speakers. The further down you go, the more likely you are to excite a room mode and get outrageous or no apparent output.This...
Leaving the Naim game . . .
First thank you for your service and returning home safely. I'm curious what speakers you were listening with during this new phase. Also, yeah, it's a shame, but money is absolutely no indicator of anything. The audiophile I want to hang around wi...
Using tube amp with electrostatic speakers.
One last thing, most ESL's are really not very neutral. Almost all can benefit significantly from digital EQ from the midrange on up. Unlike dynamic speakers which can often be measurably neutral fairly inexpensively. Again, don't get religious. I...
Using tube amp with electrostatic speakers.
@don_c55 Well, yes, but how low and how high is what matters really. Getting significantly below 4 Ohms for instance. The theory is solid, and if you see Stereophile's FR plots they do one into a simulated speaker load that's pretty good at showing...
Hi Resolution download - question on authencity of the files
@dbtom2 You are correct, and in my case, correct as well. My previous DAC had pretty mediocre jitter control EXCEPT via USB, which I did not have a source for. I was however able to compare the Mytek to the previous DAC using the same source, Sque...
Dual subs and room size
Hi Italian,Best way to find out is to measure. :) You can also approach this a step at a time. Get 1 sub, place it the best you can, measure it, plan your next move. Empirical measurements are always better than theory when it comes to a specific ...
