Whats on your turntable tonight?
I second the classical music statement Rush.I spent most of today replacing the volume pot in my new Dynaco Pas 2. I am pretty good with a soldering iron, but only know enough to be dangerous when it comes to reading schematics. I did figure it ou...
How to replace volume pot in Dynaco Pas
I figured it out. Thanks Viridian. I disconnected the loudness circuit, and installed a new 250k pot that came with my new Pas 2. The pot was way too sensitive,so I put some 10k resistors between the output and ground to refigure the taper. It is st...

Have anyone replace VPI SSM belt with string?
Just did a experiment with some ordinary poly-cotton thread on the HMW 19. I got it working which was the main thing, but it is a hair slow (checked with a strobe and by ear).I imagine some better thread and with more adjustment I can make it right...

Ralph, I DIY'd the cable from the SUT to the mm section of my preamp first before doing any other changes. There was some improvement, but nothing like changing the tonearm wire and the internal wire of the SUT. My next move is to make a new DIY ca...

The best speaker on the used market for $1000.00
You can pick up a set of Acoustat 1+1s or better still 2+2s for $1000.00 or less. They will give you everything that you are asking for and some. Since you have cathedral ceilings the taller models won't be a problem. The Cat on the other hand; I c...
Have anyone replace VPI SSM belt with string?
I have a VPI HMW19 and am in the process of building a DIY SAMA. I want to have it out board of the plinth/frame so it can be really massive. It seems to me that if the pulleys are the same size as stock then no matter how long the string is, the ...
which is better ? MC phono stage or MM+step-up ?
Sorry to go one about this but it is too incredible. I just rewired my SUT with the same mil-spec. silver solid wire. My system just took a huge leap upwards! The sound stage is much more articulated with less hash and congestion. The bass is much...

Rushton: Here we go again.Folks are going to talk. The Britten WR with Rattle (also not my usual favorite)is definitely worthwhile. I too have the original London/Britten WR.It is a historic recording.I have to admit that my favorite Bass/Baritone ...
