Theta Basic II transport repair or move on
The Basic II uses the CDM-9 Pro transport, which is no longer made.
RIP Ben Shabalala
Joseph is the leader of the group. He is alive and well.
RIP Ben Shabalala
If I'm not mistaken, this is the second Shabalala brother to be murdered. Wasn't his brother, Headman Shabalala, killed a few years ago?
Why would anyone want to listen to a harpsichord?
My wife, Viola De Gamba, loves the harpsichord. I'm telling the truth here. I'm not a lyre.
digital cable for theta front end
I'm using Tara Decade digital cables with my Theta front end and I'm quite happy with the sound. The Apogee digital cable is also excellent and usually sells for about $35 on the used market. Highly regarded by most people.
Maggie's and cats
And now for a serious answer...put poster board on the floor around the Maggies. Place cocked mousetraps under the poster board. When the cats walk on the poster board it will spring one or more of the mousetraps. The poster board will keep the ca...
Thoughts on single driver speakers
Now, here's a twist on single driver speakers. My Acoustat 2+2s are a full range electrostatic going down to 28 Hz. All panels are full range, so no crossover distortion. They are very fast speakers and at almost eight feet tall they have a terrif...

Need help for fuse question.
"Radio Shack - You've got questions, we've got answers". Wrong answers but answers none the less. I'd call VTL for answers if I were you.
Close call for High Altitude Audio
I predict that he will become somewhat of a folk hero to everyone who has lost a battle with "City hall", the Zoning Board, Code Enforcement, etc.
Telarc recordings
All Telarc recordings have the absolute polarity reversed. If you have a polarity switch on your CD player or DAC, flip it to 180. If you don't have a switch, you need to get a conponent that has one. Other major labels with reversed absolute pola...
Me and Mr. Johnson on Vinyl Anyone Heard It?
Me and Mr. Johnson sounds like a great name for one of those "My Baby Left Me" country songs.
who is this hilariously funny orchestra?
There is an old shaded dog called "Bob And Ray Throw A Stereo Spectacular" (available on CD) Which has some of this stuff on it. Very high quality recording and a lot of fun. I think it was on HP's list back in the day.
A “Tuned” power cord, Huh?
You can tuna Steinway but you can't tuna fish. I have a tunable power cord on my preamp. It is a Vans Evers "Double Pandora" and uses two sliders on the outside of the cord to tune it. Comes with very detailed instructions on where to put the slid...
Dynamic versus Electrostatic Part Deux
Zildjian is the world's oldest company owned by the same family. Something like 500 years.
