Speaker choice for Yamaha RX-V1900. Need help :-
I got rid of my unit. It should say right on the back near the speaker terminals? Or, read the manual. Yamaha has always been "whimpy" with impedance.

Read the impedance ratings on the 1900! From what I recall, they don't like anything with nominal impedance less than 6 ohms.
Cayin CD-50T: Your favorite 12AU7 tube
I really like the Telefunkens. They are bulletproof. I'm not a fan of shields but do have the rubber rings on my amp gain tubes. They reduce some of the noise from room acoustics.
Good News
Muzak would be hell for Zappa! Give him a guitar and a big fattie and let him make music.
Small sub
I hate small subs. My sunfire actually danced around when pushed hard. To get good performance out of a tiny box is hard. Also, even though they are small, it doesn't mean that you can just "hide" it. Shoving it in a corner or under something else...
Double width studs for isolation?
Magfan, I totally understand the "sound" engineering. However, having renovated many buildings, I know what it's like to have to open up walls to search for studs. That's why I'd push for either 16" studs with random in between or at least a patte...

Would love some thoughts on how to upgrade my gear
Have you tried tube rolling? You can really change the sound of the 400. What tubes are in there now? Changing your phono stage tubes from Sovteks to something like telefunken is a huge difference.
anthem d2 , b&k ref 70 or arcam
If you really cared about owning a system of this level, you would want the same power for all of your channels. At least the Right, Left and Center should all have the same amplification. Your post doesn't make a lot of sense?

Have you tried a cheater plug? It eliminates the ground loop hum. Most likely your problem. It's a 79cent fix.
TV Selection: Two Questions
Your room matters a lot. Bright rooms, go for an LCD. If not bright light, Plasmas will definitely look better. Sony's are really good as well as Samsung and Panasonic. Pioneer is the best but also the most expensive.
Manley Stingray EL 84 tube recommendations please

Solid State Amps for Quad ESL 57?
A friend of mine runs them with parasound and loves the match. He switched from big EAR tubes without sacrificing any quality.
Gallo vs. Quads ESL 57
Isn't this grounds to convince your wives that you need 3 pair of speakers and 5 different amps?
