what is the ear/yoshino 509 jubilee power amps lik I don't know about the jubilee, but I owned 519's which were simply the rack mount version of the old 509's with PL509 output tubes (100 watts per channel). They were nice amps with a decent amount of power. However, no punch. They were way too la...
I have another line conditioner question... If you have such a power change at 1am, you might actually benefit from a PS Audio Power Plant or similar. They are pricey but if you notice that much of a difference.....My conditioner has it easy just isolating my system from the a/c unit, dishw...
WAF, Help, Need Strategy Wait till the kids come.....You actually will be glad if you just go for a nice unobtrusive theater system. Hell, if you spend all of the money on one nice system, you won't even miss the 2 channel.
why hook your dvd-video to your receiver? My Sony only has 1 set of inputs. Therefor, I need the receiver to combine all of my OSD's into 1 output. I have the preamps osd, dvd osd and the satellite. I have to put the dvd through the pre to see the osd. Yeh, I know I'm due for a new TV but...
Upgrade player or buy a separate DAC Listen before you buy. The Pioneer is hard to beat. You will have to spend a bundle to hear a difference. Try borrowing a DAC and find out for yourself.
Sand filling Premier S-series speaker stand, How? I hate sand. Lead shot is much less messy and won't leak out of any cracks-no bags needed. Try K-mart or a gun store.
anyone tried Jolida amps with Maggies? If you like the Jolida sound through maggies, get an aragon instead. The aragon will put out enough power for the hungry maggies.
Any opinions on Acurus amps? Bright/Shrill is a good description of their amps. They also will distort much more easily than others in their class. The Act3 is a nice sounding pre but don't lose the remote.....why do you think they are cheap? For the same money, buy adcom or r...
How are Soliloquy's in HT? I have 6 Sat-5's for theater and it is awesome. I'm actually using 2 for the center. The sub is a 15 velodyne ULD-15 with 400 watt amp, Anthem AVM-2 pre/pro/tuner, HK signature 2.1 amp and Denon 2200 dvd. I wouldn't trade the soliloquys for anythi...
Not a ground loop hum??? You really need to start by unplugging everything in that circuit, not just in that outlet. Then, plug in only 1 piece at a time to find the hum. Keep in mind that electricians can do weird things (1 outlet in my basement is tied into a kitchen ou...
I've lost my bass.... Try a cheap fix first....Put big spikes on the bottoms of the speakers. This should get through the carpet and anchor them to the subfloor. I'll bet this will outperform most of these suggestions and save you a bundle. You could even go nuts and b...
why hook your dvd-video to your receiver? What about ON SCREEN DISPLAYS? Yes, if you go direct to your tv, you can still see the dvd display but then you can't see the receiver OSD. The only way to get both at the same time is to go through the receiver.
How come that NOS is better them NS new stock ? I think that NOS tubes are better for several reasons:1-many more tubes were used 50 years ago than today. This meant that economies of scale came into effect-it was cheaper to use good components if you were going to sell more.2-Since tubes used ...
Help and advice needed re: amp usage I think your idea is great. Changing amps will without a doubt help. Your only consideration is do you want the center channel to have the same amp as the left and right? Do you use theater much?I would advise borrowing an amp or grabbing a demo f...
Threshold "T" vs. "S" - whats the differences Didn't the S stand for Statis? Also, the A series (their oldest) were pass designs. The 400A and 800A were great |
