Your experience:a cdp that gets best of lesser cds
Chadnliz...While the Behringer DEQ2496 can be used like tone controls to fix individual recordings it is not very convenient to use this way. Its primary benefit is to fix problems of room resonances, and secondarily, frequency response of your sy...
How do tube Watts compare to SS Watts?
The sound level that can be produced by a tiny amount of power was made clear to me when my son hooked up a KLH5 low efficiency speaker to his clock radio. The KLH5 was a sealed 3-way system, and the clock radio was probably good for 500 milliwatt...
How do tube Watts compare to SS Watts?
Mathematical formula is as follows...Tube watts = (SS watts) X 1.
MIT Cable-Theory of Operation??
Cwlondon is right. You are in his pew.
Getting rid of harsh, shrill treble
Classical_fred...Yes the Blue Line are very good, but I can't comment on how they compare with xrcd. Try one and see what you think.By the way, buying from this German outfit is just as easy as a domestic internet dealer, and shipping is almost th...

CD Read Errors--Rare?
The error correcting code used for CD data is not a band-aid for the occasional read error. It is an essential part of the data storage and retrieval process. It permits the system to be operated at a much higher bandwidth than the hardware could ...
Black CD's
"Black" means that light in the visual wavelength range is absorbed (None reflected). However, at the wavelength of the CDP laser the disc must be reflective.By the way, the laser light striking the CD is always reflected. However, the "pits" in t...
Where did tracking error go?
Zaike...Well, I didn't know that terminology. It is a bit strange because "Azimuth" in any context except audiophillia, means an angle that lies in the horizontal plane. IMHO, the proper terminology would be "Azimuth" "Elevation" and "Roll", but t...
Tubes becoming microphonic
Microphonics is one contributor to "tube sound". In moderation it is not unpleasant.
Organ CDs with really deep bass
Since I posted on this thread I visited the organ stop pizza place in Mesa Arizona. Well worth a visit if you are near that part of the world. Check out their website: www.organstoppizza.com. They sell CDs, but the real thing is better than the CDs.
Will SACD Formats Play through a Standard DAC?
Wloeb...The Oppo players look great, but I don't think they will output six discrete channels in digital format such as can be input to a DAC. They do output a data stream for Dolby decoding into six channels.
What receptacle for 240V 20A in the States?
You don't need a dryer cord. Your local hardware store has plugs for 220 volts, used for some large window air conditioners and shop tools. The plug looks just like a 3-prong 110 volt plug except the power prongs are turned 90 degrees.
Is HDCD dead?
Spaz...It's the mix. An extra 4 bits of resolution would (perhaps) have other benefits. HDCD is/was a very clever idea to live with the 16 bit CD. The extra 8 bits of DVDA or SACD are even better, and come with higher sampling rate, and that's why...
Great Speakers - More is More?
Unsound...That would be like pitting the Maggie in a box, only worse. Constraining the backwave.
