An observation about "Modern" classical music.
Ah!...Now I understand why I can't appreciate contemporary music. With Mozart even the wine and cheese is optional.
Effects of no ground in wall outlet
The ground is for safety. Many pieces of audio equipment are operated with their ground connection "lifted" to avoid hum.
Refurbished Projector Lamps--Experiences???
How do you "recondition" a lamp? Seems to me that the filiament would be new, and ought to last just as long as the original one.
Tweak your AC mains for better performance, free
AC voltage measurement can be a can of worms! Most meters read peak (maximum) voltage which is rescaled to RMS assuming the signal is a sine wave. But what is peak? Actually you need to measure average voltage over a short time interval around the...

Marakanetz...Interestingly most of the Tanglewood audience seems to be from NYC and adjacent NJ.
An observation about "Modern" classical music.
Today's local newspaper reports that the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and particularly their summer festival, Tanglewood, in Western Massachusetts is in dire financial straits. The new musical director, James Levine, has redirected the program towar...

Jsawhitlock...FWIW, when lightning struck a tree about 30 feet from my house, and traveled underground to my house, almost every fuse blew, but not a single breaker opened. Fuses provide better protection than breakers, but insurance companies don...
What equipment do you most regret parting with??
KLH12 speaker systems. The only box speaker which sounded right to me. After a decade of Maggies I tried without success to find another good box, but no luck. Maggies again now.

The only thing that is certain about this subject is that it has been done many times before, and usually ends up in mud slinging. It is necessary to provide information to newcomers, so I suggest that two "white papers" be written each discussing...

The utility company has its own switch to turn off your house. Why not call them up and ask them to come around and cycle your switch. Please let us know what they say.
The Cost of Cables
Mrtennis....You say "why is there so much of an obsession with the cost of cable ?" It's because the function of a cable is so simple...Provide an electrical conductor from point A to point B, with insulation on the outside. People can understand ...
What song is your fav.Emmylou cut???
Don_s...Do you have the DVDA version, and played back on a good MC system? I can't understand your criticism of the song selection as it includes many of her most popular cuts. Since you can't stand to listen to the disc, why don't you send it off...
What song is your fav.Emmylou cut???
If you can play a DVDA I highly recommend "Producer's Cut", produced and arranged by Brian Ahern, her former husband. (Actually you can also play this disc on a DVDV player). It includes all her best songs over many years. The final cut "Old Rugge...
Behringer DEQ 2496 help
Cwlondon...There is usually a way to restore factory settings, but I can't find one for the DEQ2496.
Do you think you need a subwoofer?
Rauliruegas...My experiments with SW crossover frequency has led me to the conclusion that, at least for my speakers, there is no one "correct" frequency. My main speakers, MG1.6, are good to 40 Hz, and my custom SW systems are good to 400 Hz, so ...
