bypassing a crossover in a two-way Thomp9015...Suggestion...Modify one speaker and compare it with the other unmodified one. Another idea...Just add a shorting wire across the inductor that is in series with the woofer, with a switch in it. Now you can make comparisons just by play...
RCA to XLR - Cable adapter? Your preamp-to-amp wiring will be single-ended regardless of what kind of connectors are on the ends. Seems to me you would be better off using a rca-terminated interconnect and the adapter at the amp. If you were to make a cable/adapter such as y...
bypassing a crossover in a two-way Why, Why, Why??? The manufacturer gave you a crossover because, above the XO frequency the woofer doesn't work as well as the tweeter. Cone drivers typically have lumpy frequency response in a range before they roll off, and you really want to tur...
Can you imagine a world without vinyl? Albertporter...Dolly Parton has very small feet. She explains this by "things don't grow well in the shade".Psychicanimal...Do it and let us know what happens. I might do mine.
What's the frequency response of vinyl? Tafka_steve...Whatever you think about the sonic characteristics of Shure cartridges (and other stuff) Shure does an outstanding job of testing and specification. I believe Shure specs. For the V15mr They say "esentially flat from 10 to 25KHz". Th...
220 to 110 coversion - mistake? As Herman says, many products have wiring provisions so that they are easily reconfigured for different line voltages. Sometimes it is as easy as a switch. Also I am seeing more and more electronic equipment with low power draw (like a CDP) that w...
Putting MM cart through MC phono stage I agree with your last sentence :-)
What's the frequency response of vinyl? Tafka_steve...I am not sure I completely understood the article, but I think that they cut 61KHz at half speed, which, if played back at full speed would represent 122KHz. That's a lot different from having an actual playback capability of 122 KHz.
Anyone wish they had a rumble subsonic filter? 240zracer...Did you price that 700mH inductor as an air core unit? And you need two. That ought to make your decision easy!
What's the frequency response of vinyl? Tafka_steve...Flat to 100KHz is not a big deal for electronics. I doubt that my Shure V15mr cartridge goes that high, but it would still be sensitive at 35KHz. However, please note that I am inferring the maximum frequency from the behavior eviden...
Can you imagine a world without vinyl? Gregm...I agree that a live feed sometimes has a certain quality which I have not heard from any recorded media. However, FM radio has some limitations. As you may know, FM radio consists of two signals, a mono one up to 19KHz and a multiplexed on...
I have Maggie MG 1.6's - need amp advice Atmasphere...OK: if you drive a ss amp hard enough it will clip. But (at least some that I have seen) the shape of the distortion vs power graph is characteristically different from tube amps. (However, I just checked the Hypex UcD digital amp mod...
What's the frequency response of vinyl? I used to believe that 20KHz was tops, based on microscopic visual groove inspection. However, I now have a spectrum analyser, and although it only goes up to 20KHz it shows that some LPs still have signal at 20 KHz, and the signal level is rollin...
Anyone wish they had a rumble subsonic filter? 240zracer...Take Hdm's advice, and get the rumble filter.Your concern about maintaining stereo separation down to 18 Hz is not reasonable.1. LP cutting practice (usually) is to mix to mono at low frequency.2. Many people don't think that LF sound ...
I have Maggie MG 1.6's - need amp advice Benie...I think you got it backwards. I would say "Go for the watts and the current will come with it". Watts are Voltage times Current. Voltage is easy to make. A handheld battery powered device, like a Geiger counter can make and use thousands o... |
