Why the sudden popularity of 12 inch arms
Inpepinnovations...When my cars had drum brakes the shoes had to be replaced at about 60,000 miles. At that time the drums would be turned (remachined). Nowadays, with disc brakes they go in as few as 25,000 miles, and the rotors are so thin that ...
Good power ratio HT: fronts, rears, center, sub
What you match in a multichannel system is gain (volume) not power capability. The RSP 1066 will do this with no problem. For your rear speakers 150 watt amps should be fine. I would recommend a center channel speaker and amp the same as your fron...
Behringer 24/96 Auto EQ Continued...
To be less "bright" select ROOM CORR during equalization.Try something other than flat for your target curve during equalization. After equalization select GEQ and touch up the curve. After making changes use MEMORY to update the GEQ. If you get al...
Behringer 24/96 Auto EQ Continued...
When I got that message, and the noise signal was turned up loud, the reason was that the mic was not plugged in! DUH!
Schumann Resonance and it's effect on music
Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha,....
Thoughts on adding a Super tweeter .
Johnk...The wavelength of 20 KHz is about 2/3 inch so a supertweeter movement of 1/3 inch represents a 180 degree phase shift. Since the supertweeter and the tweeter are not exactly colocated even a small change of listener position will alter the...
Is HDCD dead?
On second thought it isn't applicable to SACD because they are not PCM code.
Is HDCD dead?
Psacanli...The encoding technology of HDCD could indeed be applied to multichannel recordings, DVDA and SACD. But these are already significantly higher resolution than a CD, so why bother? A HDCD (CD) cannot be multichannel.
Are passive preamps better?
Unsound...No problem. I also made a mistake once. I thought I had made an error, but was wrong about that :-)
Review: Ohm Acoustics Walsh 5 Series 3 Speaker
The KLH 9 electrostatic and the original OHM speaker are the only ones that "blew my socks off" upon first hearing. Sadly both were out of my budget at the time.
Are passive preamps better?
Unsound...You got that backwards. Low sensitivity means that, to be heard, a signal needs to be strong. Noise pickup is a weak signal.
Bose 901...really
It's interesting that you consider the reflected sound aspect as most important. To my way of thinking there are at least three ideas at work. In order I think important..1. No attempt to make the speaker proper have flat response. Correct using e...
What does more power do for Magnepans?
Rf_gumby..."As you add devices to gain power, you lose delicacy, kind of a trade off".This has been repeated so many time that it's almost become true! Have you ever seen an elephant dance? Or manipulate things, like a paint brush, with delicacy y...
Bose 901...really
Rodman99999...I have observed that a fair amount of casual live music (not the kind I usually listen to) is delivered via Bose 801s (?) speakers which look like 901s turned backwards. Surely a 901 would be near ideal for reproducing what comes out...
Why the sudden popularity of 12 inch arms
Some creative marketer will call it a "304.8 mm arm" and charge an extra $600.
