anyone heard of Luxman amp.pls help I have a Luxman T-14 tuner, and it is a gem, both cosmeticly and performance-wise. I live in an FM fringe area where only the best FM tuners are worth owning.Lux/Luxman was described as "The Japanese McIntosh". Nuff said.

SACD VS DVD-AUDIO The "superiority" of SACD is a creation of Sony marketing efforts. Either format eliminates the problem of marginal resolution of redbook CD, and any real differences are the result of how the various discs are mastered. My sonicly best discs happ...
SACD Opinions: Gimmick? Like it? Don't? Why? Sogood51...If I had invested $6000 in a CD player, human nature would bias me to prefer it to my friend's $800 universal. Audiophiles are (I think) human. Besides, the $6000 player probably does sound as good as can be achieved with the marginal r...
Carver Pro ZR1600 Dmason...The Carver is not my first adventure into the ProSound waters. I have a QSC amp which I bought for its capability with 2 ohm load, driving subwoofers. In the SW application I reasoned that superlow distortion and the like is not critical....
SACD Opinions: Gimmick? Like it? Don't? Why? Rsbeck...I'm not going to get involved with the argument about whether single media players are better than universal ones, but if you are correct about that, the explanation you cite is not the reason. "Stuff everything into one box". Practically...
Carver Pro ZR1600 Kana813...Neutric Speakon connectors certainly look like excellent devices, but I do not need to frequently connect and disconnect speakers, so I think that bare wire clamped into the binding posts is probably best. (Least number of contacts, per ...
ESL enclosures Unsound...Agreed that LF cancellation is a real phenomna: I just said that, as a problem, it's exaggerated. An ordinary cone driver in a open flat baffle suffers greatly from LF cancellation, but Magnepan (for example) has tweeked up the membrane ...
Carver Pro ZR1600 Gmood1...Yes those reviews and others like them is what got me all excited. The comment "uncanny ability to unbundle instruments" is exactly what I hear.Sean...Undoubtedly multiple contacts on a switch or relay is a good idea. Sliprings that we us...
ESL enclosures The whole point of planar drivers is to get rid of the box sound. The LF cancellation effect has been exaggerated.
Carver Pro ZR1600 Kool39...A "full review" of the amp is something that I am really not qualified to do. Others have evaluated and reported on this amp, and their reviews are the reason I bought it. I could write some glowing praise using all the usual words (tranp...
Class A multi-channel amp? sean...The Carver amps, and some others, but not the Spectron, reportedly use variable ("spread spectrum") pulse width up to more that a megacycle, and this somehow means that the supersonic filter can be less abrupt. Do you have any further clari...
Carver Pro ZR1600 Dmason...One mod that I heard described pretty much amounted to bypassing the input signal processing (Level controls, high pass filters, clipping management, amplification configuration, etc) replacing the fan with one that is more quiet, and cha...
Class A multi-channel amp? sean...I have heard it said that conventional testing techniques get screwed up in ways that I don't recall, when used on digital amps. Who knows?"Less control of the drivers" means higher output impedance. That I can understand. But what does "sl...
Suggestions for someone who wants to get in tubes Reubent...About that "slightly damaged" stock... Back in the days when "Fair Trade" pricing was legal (the manufacturer could set the price, and no discounts) KLH operated that way. I went to buy a KLH 5 for center channel, and was offered "damage... |
