EQ's... why doesnt everybody have one? Jafox...Rives will tell you that LF room resonances cannot be effectively cured by acoustic treatments, and they will sell you their highly regarded equalizer to do the job.
Bose 901 Stevecham...Not true. Closely spaced drivers behave like one big driver except at very close range. The best example is the line array configuration, which may include a dozen drivers.
EQ's... why doesnt everybody have one? Kal...Maybe it ain't perfect, but the $300 Behringer DEQ2496 does a job which needs to be heard to be believed. Really!.
Cassette Tapes..Dolby B or C? WOW! I never thought that this thread would draw so much comment. I just had a simple question. I guess it is a little-known fact that some audiophiles still like their cassette decks.
Bad idea? Budget int. tube amp with Maggie 1.6's? CarverPro ZR1600 and Maggie 1.6. Synergy? I don't know, but it would cost you less than a grand to find out.
What Digital Stylus Force Gauge Do You Like? Of course the vinyl compliance varies with temperature. It does flex as the stylus tracks the groove. The RCA "Dynagroove" LPs include signal processing intended to counteract the vinyl compliance.
What Digital Stylus Force Gauge Do You Like? Nsgarch...Maybe people who have gauges can measure several nickels, so we can see how much they actually vary. I don't think it will be much, and certainly not enough to significantly affect VTF measurements down around 2 grams.
Rat Shck Presidian 40-5053. Next Sonic Impact? Hdm...I examined one of these speakers, and it is assembled in the USA using components made in China. Legally this might mean that they just put the grill on.
What Digital Stylus Force Gauge Do You Like? I learned about a nickle weighing 5 grams in a college chemistry lab, where the instructor told us that we could use a nickle as a 5 gram weight in the balance. My recollection is that it was exactly 5 grams, but that is long ago and it is possibl...
Tuner Aligement ? What does that mean ? .Alignment is the adjustment of the positions of the compressed powdered iron "slugs" in several interstage transformers in the IF amplifier section of the circuit. This tweeks up amd "aligns" the resonant frequency of the several transformers, an...
Is this considered a "balanced" cable? Objective1...The term "balanced" should be reserved for wires. An amplifier circuit that has mirror image circuitry for inphase and inverted signal should be called "complementary". The push/pull output stage of an amplifier is complementary, rega...
What Digital Stylus Force Gauge Do You Like? .As Rushton says, VTF is best set by listening, using a test LP designed for this purpose if possible. If you have a stylus force gauge, and you want to calibrate it, a nickle coin weighs exactly 5 grams..
BEST AUDIOGON POSTS Jax2...If you look at our audiophile hobby from a psychological point of view it very much resembles the car collector's interest. Both are irrational expensive (overpriced) quests for subjectively perceived quality. Many collector hobbies would q...
Rat Shck Presidian 40-5053. Next Sonic Impact? Albertporter...If you stacked up 14 of these little boxes, each one oriented horizontal, you would have a 7-1/2 foot line array. Sound familiar? It would cost $559.30, but probably less because RS gives volume discounts. A joke? Well sort of. But ...
Difference Between Rotel 1066 and 1068??? There isn't a lot of difference, and what there is you may never use. If you can get the 1066 cheap, go for it. I just updated the software of my 1066 via the Rotel internet site. This was interesting. Of course, they haven't changed 1066 software... |
