How to connect C2500, MC501 and Two Subs
I have a McIntosh C2500 and a pair of JL Audio F113V2 subs and the "A" output on the preamp connects it to an MC452 power amp and the "B" output connects to the JL Audio subs.In my case I use the XLR outputs in both cases, you could do the same us...
The Placebo Effect
In 1978-79 I worked at an audio dealer who had an "electronic" switching system, so one could A/B not only speakers, but amps, preamps, CD players, etc.One day I setup a customer to A/B a McIntosh MC2205 (solid state amp)  and a Luxman LRS (tube a...
Insuring Your Vinyl Collection and Equipment
Thanks for bringing this up.  I sent our insurance company a spreadsheet of all my equipment, the model and serial numbers and the "replacement cost", so they would have it in their records.  The strange thing with that was that our agent didn't t...
I'm here for the sharing, not the snobery

Has Anybody Else Heard These?
I owned a pair of Totem Fire monitors for several years and enjoyed them very much.
You pay for it and you get it...
I experienced the difference in my former home.  I used to have my system with a pair of excellent two way stand mounts and a good but modest sub woofer with a 10" driver from our 13x24' living room to my 24x26' family room, the setup just would n...
Top 5 recievers of the 70's and 80's ????
I enjoyed a Marantz 2275 and later a Tandberg TR2080
Suddenly...one third of my tracks are 'unavailable' using Qobuz
@wgs57 I probably have 1000 CDs and SACDs and hardly ever play them, as I find it's much more enjoyable to fire up Roon on my iPad.  The USB port on my Roon Nucleus Plus server sounds awesome and most of the masters on Qobuz sound as good, if not ...
Looking for my Final Pair!!
I snagged one of the first pair of Focal Sopra No2's in black that hit the shores in the U.S.  It took a while for them to settle down, once they did, I'd say they are my "final" pair.  I'm amazed that, when I bought them they retailed for $14k a ...
Looking for my "last" CD transport
I would also recommend avoiding used transports.  The mechanical mechanisms in a few of the CD players I've owned have failed, one just weeks after the two year warranty expired, probably the part that is replaced most on CD players and transports...
A Hidden "Feature" of the Cornwall IV
Back in the 1978-1982 time frame I worked at some high end audio dealers in the DC area, all who were Klipsch dealers.  I never owned them, but really enjoyed listening to them, being in one of the "high end" listening rooms, driven by the best am...
Replacement for 802 D3s
I've enjoyed a pair of Focal Sopra No2's since they first arrived stateside and they pair very well with my McIntosh C2500 & MC452.  They did take a bit of time to "settle down", but they are now "keepers" probably for life.I use a pair of JL ...
WILSON AUDIO.....BIG NAME, BIG PRICE........ARE THEY THAT GOOD?
When I was last shopping for speakers, before demonstrating a pair of Magico floor-standing speakers, the salesman asked if I prefered "analytic" or "musical" speakers, an interesting way to put it.  In my case "musical" was my preference.  I foun...
Anyone Successfully Go from Floor Standers to Bookshelf Monitors w/ Subs?
In our former home, I moved my system with two excellent Totem Fire monitors and a Velodyne 10" powered subwoofer down from our 13x22' living room to our 24x26' family room and the system just didn't seem to fill the new space. That gave me an "exc...
Taking time (and time outs) to enjoy the ride...
In the late 70's, early 80's I was a salesman at two high-end audio dealers in the DC area and though I was somewhat of a "junkie" for the high-end equipment, I learned that you could not make a living catering to customers who were also "equipmen...
