Musician vs. audiophile
I am not familiar with the BAT amplifier.I have had a pair of Sopra No2's and McIntosh MC452 power amp, since the Sopra's were first available and am so "smitten" I'm not looking to change. One thing I found about my Sopra's was that it took at lea...
Anyone Tried Integrating Dirac Room Correction?
David,One of my audio buddies is recommending that I buy a McIntosh MEN220, install it between my preamp and poweramp.  I guess the advantage of that setup would be to apply room correction regardless of the input source.  I have a PS Audio Direct...
Anyone Tried Integrating Dirac Room Correction?
My "man cave" sounded great until I added a pair of subwoofers.  I purchased REW (Room EQ Wizard) and that microphone, and got 10 bass traps positioned as well as I could.  I could probably use two or three more bass traps in that room, but 10 was...
Anyone Tried Integrating Dirac Room Correction?
Jaybe,I do have a miniDSP calibration microphone.  Can I ask what DSP you've used?  Do you still use it?
Whats in your second system?

Store auditioning and then buying on-line from others. How do you feel about it ?
I grappled with the idea of buying from a dealer who wasn't local, after visiting my local dealer to make a purchase, and the salesman seemed he didn't know much about the equipment he sold, was pretty much an "order taker" and wasn't that interes...
No preamp 'Balance' control?
It's funny to see this posting, as just last week I played with the balance control on my preamp and with the acoustics of my room, found that upping the right channel 2 db made the imaging and soundstage noticeably improved.
I love my PS Audio Direct Stream with Red Cloud :)
I've enjoyed a PS Audio DirectStream DAC since it first came on the market, and have applied (and enjoyed) each software upgrade since.  I also have one of their DirectStream transports, the combination of the two is the best digital sound I've he...
The most sophisticated sound you ever heard
Anne-Sophie Mutter and the Boston Symphony Orchestra playing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. When we returned home from that concert, I fired up my excellent audio system, very very good, but no match for the sound in Symphony Hall...
Open Baffle. Why are they mostly limited to DIY?
I stopped into the DIY room at this year's Capital Audiofest and they had a low-powered tube amp driving an open baffle pair of DIY speakers, with a 12" Tannoy driver facing the listener, and an 18" down firing driver for the low bass.I was really...
Sopra 2 soundstage height
I've enjoyed my Sopra No2's now for about 16 months now.It did take me a while to get them "dialed in" to the room they are in.  The room had terrible low bass response, adding that "single note" to the bass line in the musical source.  Ten bass t...
Classe or McIntosh Is Classe going out of businesssed
I have owned McIntosh equipment for a while now and have never been disappointed.Whether you like McIntosh or not, it does tend to hold its value much better than most other brands.  I've been successful recently, purchasing nearly new McIntosh el...
What is it that you don't like about your Listening Room ?
It took me a while to get the "one note" bass sound controlled in my 24' x 26' "man cave", but with the help of10 bass traps with the help of the REW software and a calibration microphone, the room sounds awesome!
What headphone amp to use with Sennheiser HD800?
I used to have a Bryston BHA-1, connected to my previous McIntosh C50 preamp (not enough "umph" from its built in preamp) with the balanced connectors.  I don't use headphones very often, so I sold the Bryston to someone who really enjoys it.When ...
So how many people jumped on the PS Audio Black Friday Sale For The BHK Amps And Pre Amp?
I've enjoyed a PS Audio DirectStream DAC, which I purchased soon after it was released, and have added their P10 PowerPlant and DirectStream transport.  The few times I've needed to obtain support from the company, I have nothing but good things t...
