It’s that time of year- 2020 audio wish list
Building a new home with a "bonus room" for my audio system.  Hope integrating the system into that room is easier than it was in my current "man cave".
How good can it get, really? - my stereo sounds amazing!
For about five years I was on a tear, upgrading this, changing out that, and I've reached the same point, really enjoying the sound quality of my system, being more "relaxed" about being an audiophile, enjoying the music.
Highly recommend Paragon Sight and Sound in Ann Arbor, MI
I've had only one transaction with them, purchasing a McIntosh preamplifier, very smooth transaction from start to finish. As for the trade in values, in any industry where the items depreciate a lot, and do so quickly (i.e. automobiles), the deale...
The Music Room
When PS Audio offered the P15 power regenerator, I dealt with TMR to trade in my P10 and the transaction could not have been better.  I was able to give my details (including credit card number) over the phone, they sent me a Fedex or UPS label vi...
Eh hem!...Subwoofers... What do ya know?
Erik said it best, " Hard to integrate well. Glorious when done right."I've used subs for many years now, mostly to augment stand mount two way's.  Up until I had my current setup, my system had to work the best it could in our living room, with ...
Great Qobuz streamer. Upgrade from Bluesound Node 2
I have been a Roon user for a few years and my last upgrade was to purchase a Roon Nucleus Plus, which I highly recommend.  They also sell a Roon Nucleus, but I decided to opt for the Plus model (faster processor, more memory).  The only "downside...
$30K DAC in a $70K system - wise or ridiculous?
One thing I'd recommend you consider would be to snag a really good power regenerator. When PS Audio released their P15 unit, I upgraded from my then-current P10 model and immediately noticed significant improvements in the bass, the soundstage and...
SACD or not
Even if you don't plan to purchase SACDs, if you get a deck that supports that format, the built in DAC will probably need to be of higher quality, in order to decode the DSD content on the SACDs.  When I was early in my journey to the higher end ...
North Carolina Audio Club
Calloway,Thanks for the link to the Carolina Audio Society, I bookmarked it.  We are building a home down near Asheville, will be moving in about a year, will look them up after we move!
Has anybody tried Qobuz Streaming service?
Earlier I posted that "I gave up on Qobuz", when I was attempting to use their Windows app.I later purchased a Roon Nucleus Plus server and have Roon integrate my library of purchased music with my Tidal and Qobuz subscriptions, and with the Roon ...
Mmmm Crow tastes good...
I've had subwoofers for many years and getting them integrated to the side speakers and especially to the room can be a daunting task.Having said that, I am glad I have a pair, the bass they generate is un-matched by any of the speakers I've found...
Mattresses, not stereos is where the money is
In my travels I met a guy who retired and missed being out and about with people and took a job selling mattresses.  He told me that the markup was 3 to 4 times their cost, but when the chain committed to a larger purchase, that went to 5 times......
What is wrong with audiophiles?
Some of my audio buddies seem to be more into the equipment than the music.Back in the day, as an audio salesman on commission, I learned that when an audiophile walked into the showroom, it was best to be polite to them, figure out what they want...
What CD Transports Provide the Most Detail?
I currently own a PS Audio P15 power regenerator, a DirectStream DAC and CD transport.  I had the PerfectWave transport before the DirectStream model was introduced, and I found the newer model was well worth the upgrade, especially since I own ab...
