Help me find violin and cello related
To me, the most brilliant piece of music ever composed for the violin solo is Bach's Chaconne (5th movement of Partita in D minor for solo violin (BWV 1004)), performed by many. However to me Back (nor any of the other "virtuoso" stuff mentioned h...
Help me find violin and cello related
I suggest you try Arvo Part's Tabula Rasa released on ECM. Gidon Kremer plays the violin and the compositions and performance is out of this world.
Most achingly-beautiful music
To me the most beautiful 2 minutes of music Chopin ever wrote is Prelude #4. It has that otherworldy, divinely insipred quality to it....
Extremely High-End "Pre-Pro" Surround Pre-Amp
That leaves two other possibilities:You think the SIM is an overprices mediocre piece of gear, but - especially given your standing as an influential authority on SSPs - publicly stating this would not endear you to the manufacturer (who happens t...
Extremely High-End "Pre-Pro" Surround Pre-Amp
Let me guess. There is a review forthcoming in the magazine and you do not want (and/or are not allowed) to give away any clues prior to publication.
Extremely High-End "Pre-Pro" Surround Pre-Amp
The Tact is no doubt a very competent digital processor, as are a host of others mentioned (and not mentioned) on this forum. However, for the "occasional multi channel" listener seeking to maintain reference 2 channel performance using analog sou...
Extremely High-End "Pre-Pro" Surround Pre-Amp
According to its owners, the Krell 707 is only SSP with a 2 channel analog pre section that can compete with reference dedicated 2 channel pre's. However, it is crazy expensive and you are much better off keeping the VAC and buying one of very res...
Modwright vs odysessy Extreme
In my experience three is only one way to find out. Listen to both units in your own system pick the winner and sell the loser with minimal or no loss. I do it all the time and it is the ONLY way to make the right call.
2 Ch/HT integration-need help from experts
There is a thread on the digital forum (little dated). Search for: Who makes switch-box for balance inputs? If that does not point you in the right direction I'm sure you can Google yourself a solution.
2 Ch/HT integration-need help from experts
I have an integrated 2 channel and 5.2 system and it works beautifully. I use a preamp with bypass but if you do not want to go down that path you should simply get yourself a high grade (balanced) input switchbox. There are some threads discussin...
Center channel for Avalon Eidolons
Great news about the Avalon center. However, a brand new Avalon center channel using the same components as the $3,000 (no overhead, no advertising/marketing cost, no dealer margin - manufacturer direct sales only) Salk center will sell for $7,000...
Center channel for Avalon Eidolons
I found out myself before your post. Just got of the phone with Jim @ Salk. He has accuton midrange and ribbon tweeter that will likely integrate quite well with the Eidolons. He even offered to build a center with the Eidolon's Accuton 1" tweeter...
Center channel for Avalon Eidolons
I just acquired a pair of Eidolon Visions and am facing the same decision. I am currently using Kef 204c (not bad at all), but I have feeling I can do better, preferably with something Accuton driver based. I did get a (very reasonable) quote from...
Avalon Eidolon or Parsifal Encore
I am not planning to use a cross-over network in the main signal path - I run the Eidolons at full range. I just use a low pass filter for the subs.I also have a Rives Parc analog bass EQ unit that is designed go into the mains signal path and app...
