Sub connection to CARY SLP-05 preamp Marty, I use the NHT X2 as well, but strictly as a low pass filter for my 2 JL113s. The low pass also runs through a SVS sub EQ unit before reaching the subs. My mains run at full range as I am a firm believer of keeping any circuitry (in this cas...
Sub connection to CARY SLP-05 preamp Could very well be. Lack of EQ would still be an issue, but may be even EQ works on speaker level inputs as well.
Sub connection to CARY SLP-05 preamp I don't know how the DD-12 works, but I presume it has a separe line level input and speaker level input and the EQ and Xover can only be applied to the line level input - I could be completely wrong on this. If this is the case you cannot use the...
Sub connection to CARY SLP-05 preamp Al, thanks for explaining. Grandtech, probaby wise to check with Cary as Marty suggested. Regarding your other question, I'm also with Marty on using speaker level inputs. You want to use EQ with the subs if at all possible which such a setup woul...
Sub connection to CARY SLP-05 preamp Impedance is usually well wihtin range with parallel downstream loads. However, adding to the complexity, I am using the fully balanced modwright 36.5 to drive my subs and mains, and the manufacturer explicitly advises against using RCA and XLR at...
Subwoofer Differences and Choice Funds permitting get 2 x JL 113. Better still - throw in a fully discrete 2 channel SVS sub equalizer.
Subwoofer Differences and Choice I have not heard the others, but you cannot go wrong with the JL 113, espcially for music. They are not the deepest of subs, but they can keep up with the mains in terms of speed and truly dissappear.
Your ONE all time favorite love song? "Ne me quitte pas" by Jacques Brel
The Evolution of Modern Jazz I can't say I know Di Meola well enough to make that call. All I can say is I don't care much for his electronic fusion work, but love all things acoustic, so the "Rite of Strings" is right up my alley. On this note, there is a phenomenally record...
The Evolution of Modern Jazz This is my favourite track from an excellent DVD. Two of the giants of Jazz mentioned previously appear (J.L. Ponty, Al diMeola). Number three is no slouch either (Stanley Clark). Rite of strings - Live in Montreauxhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u...
Different subwoofer at each corner? Whatever issues you may be having can probably be tackled by inserting a the fully discrete two channel SVS Sub-EQ unit into your system. Especially beneficial if the trail and error process of moving your subs into different locations in the room...
The Evolution of Modern Jazz I read through the thread and found someone mention Hossam Ramzy. He actually particiapted in a Robert Plant, Jimmy Page reunion concert, with oriental arrangement of Zeppeling classics, recorder in Marrakesh, Marroco. The DVD is called "unledded"...
The Evolution of Modern Jazz Gentlemen, this thread started as an exploration of the evolution of Jazz" and has now digressed into Piazolla territory (beautiful music to be sure but not "jazz"). Not to worry - the synthesis of latin accordeon and pure Jazz is there for everyo...
The Evolution of Modern Jazz To me "world Jazz" does not get much better than Rabih Abou-Khalil (Jazz / Middle Eastern). I particularly like his first album Al-Jadida, but thenagain, I am very favorably predisposed to middle eastern rhytms and melodies. On that note, there is...
Really need some advice on center channels I am about to order a Salk Soundscape center channel (to use with Avalon Eidolon Vision mains). This center is $3,000, but from a manufacturer direct operation with no overhead. Avalon will release a center that has the same level drivers shortly,... |
