Perfect Debute Albums
Timrhu, even if we dismiss real Bjork's first album, her first serious recording is "Gling Glo" her one and only ever Jazz outing, which precedes "Debut". If you have not heard it I recommend you try to get your hands on a copy. Great stuff.
Best "pseudo" multi channel from 2 ch sources
I have not heard any multi channel expansion I liked done in the digital domain. However, the McCormack MAP1 analog Multi channel preamp expands 2 channel to 5.1 in the analog domain (called Ambiance Retrieval Mode [ARM]), and I really liked it. I...
"God Bless the Child" on Idol?
My take:Top performer (by a mile): Casey bottom three (three of these four): Paul, Stephano, Lauren and Haley.Worst performance (by a mile) and hopefully going home: PaulFrontrunner and guy to beat: ScottyInterestingly, this season is evolaving in...
Verity Audio Amadis Owners, Listener Impressions?
Jeff, the way to get more bass with the Verities is get two JL Audio 113's subs, an external crossover and a discrete 2 channel SVS sub equalizer. This will give you completely flat bass response from the subs, and very good integration with the V...
Whom to invite to a Powercord shootout party
I just ordered a pair of Mojo XPC-7 (30 day trial) and that will be the final contender in the lineup. I like to idea of having three different design principles represented: (Ribbon, Active Shielding and regular cable)
"God Bless the Child" on Idol?
The boy to beat is Scotty. I don't like country and I find his G.W.Bush grin and asymetrical microphone handling annoying, but I can see he has real talent, commercial potential, and is amazingly mature for his age.
Whom to invite to a Powercord shootout party
I was in the PC = Snakeoil camp until I tried the PS audio ac-12 which really worked. No double blind tests so it is entirely possible this is all just the figment of my imagination. Even if this is the case I'm quite happy in my delusional world ...
For all you Clapton fans....
Here is some blashphemy. Clapton is a magificent musician and I love most of his stuff, but I never hear him splilling his guts on the stage. He plays from the head not the heart. To me, the real deal is a guy like Stevie Ray that dies on stage a ...
Perfect Debute Albums
If we take some liberties and throw in "first solo albums" we have to mention Lauryl Hill's - The Miseducation of Lauryl Hill. I could not get enough of that album, and it picked up 5 grammys I believe.
PS Audio Power Plant Premier Power Cables
I swapped out my $150 heavy gauge cable for an AC-12 and found there to be no improvement. Should I move further up the cable foodchain to get the results you guys appear to be getting? I have been a PC sketic until the AC-12 finally delivered, bu...
Perfect Debute Albums
I never realized Ten was Pearl Jam's debut. Knowing this, I would rank it in the the top three of all time best debuts. Now I realize this is probably going to get me boo'ed of the stage but I would nominate Eminem's "Slim Shady LP" as one of the m...

Which Vivaldi Four Seasons CD to buy???
I have a few different recordings and really like Fabio Biondi on the Opus 111 label, distributed by Naxos. Excellent sound quality to boot.
a good pre amp with remote usd6000 or less used
I would add the Pass labs XP-20 to your list, as well as the 2 chassis Modwright 36.5 The Ref5 is going to set you back at least 8K used, but you can get a Ref3 for less than 6K.
Need Blues Rec--burn the house down guitar stuff
How can we not mention mr. blues himself; B.B. King's "Live at the Regal" is a classic, and completely conveys the atmosphere of a live show.
