Please Make Audiogon Cool
I'd tell everybody to, as Mick Jagger famously said at Altamont, "Please!"  "Cool out!"  The trouble is, I just dropped my brand new Dartzeel Ultra Premium Mono Amps on my feet as I was taking them out of that flimsy carton they come in.  Not only...
Most annoying song, period.
It pains me to say that I don't like Captain Beefheart at all.  I actually saw him and the band live, too.  Sometime in the prehistoric era.
Your last concert was to see who and when?
Trio Con Brio.  Violin, cello and piano.  Hilo College Auditorium.  That same battleship Steinway.  Fifteenth row, dead center.  Haydn, Ravel, Shostakovitch.  A bit too far away for full on audiophile ecstasy, but some good playin'.
High end audio - mid range ears
If you can hear and appreciate a difference, and it isn't going to bankrupt you or precipitate a divorce, it's worth doing.  Don't worry if the ears ain't quite pristine.
Most annoying song, period.
Count me in as another fan of Surfin' Bird.  Energy.  Attitude.  Fun.
Who remembers audio from the time when ...
Great stories, everybody!  I've told mine in other threads but here's the compressed version with a few additions.1950's -- Dad has mountain of 78's, 45's & 33's.  Plays 'em on a one-box record changer.  Me and older sis have a brightly colore...
Your last concert was to see who and when?
Me and the wife hosted an acoustic jam last night on the back porch.  Two fiddles, Celtic Harp, a guitar and a banjo.  Fidelity was high.  Musicianship was, to use a euphemism, good natured...
SACD
The addition of a Mytek Brooklyn Bridge to my system did largely even the playing field between CD and SACD when I play stuff on my Sony XA5400ES, but I just put on a single layer Sony SACD of violinist Giuliano Carmignola doing late Vivaldi conce...
Anti-Skate
almarg -- I essentially did what you suggested no matter how verkochte my reasoning might have been. mijostyn -- I don’t think the cartridge ever mistracked for me, in any case. And I know what mistracking is, having spent plenty of days with a De...
Classical Music for Aficionados
rvpiano -- Yeah!  That Mahler Des Knaben Wunderhorn recording is indeed my favorite record of all time.  I have three copies -- one CD and two Vanguard LPs (my wife accidentally put a scratch in my first one and guiltily tracked down another).  Th...
Does your system hate you when you ignore her?
Nah.  Maybe when first turned on the sound is a bit constricted, but within five minutes my system is its happy, mellifluous self.
Classical, Rock, Jazz etc. are your tastes evolving with time?
Oddly, I've been attending live concerts and such much more regularly since I retired from my lifelong home town of L.A. to tiny Hilo HI.  Sure, when I was in L.A. I saw top flight artists such as the Vienna Phil, the Berlin Phil and Vladimir Horo...
Classical, Rock, Jazz etc. are your tastes evolving with time?
I've been a multi-genre guy beginning from the time I outgrew children's records at about age 4, 60 some odd years ago.  I started branching out with the styles of my mom and dad and listened to -- Classical, MOR and Showtunes. I found rock when t...
Most annoying song, period.
Joe Cocker's live version of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from my Friends."
