Added an SUT...not sure I understood this
@billwojo  Sounds like something is wrong with your AU-320. There is a strong probability that the switches are in a need of cleaning, not an easy job. I’ve already explained to the guy the 3ohm tap on the AU320 has a gain ratio of 36 and the ...

@mulveling  I know we all suspect the SUT is bad, but I’m not sure how a SUT can even go bad such that this negative-gain behavior  I’ve already explained to the guy the 3ohm tap on the AU320 has a gain ratio of 36 and the 12ohm ATOC9 will see...

@atmasphere I’ve already explained to the guy the 3ohm tap on the AU320 has a gain ratio of 36 and the 12ohm ATOC9 will see a load of 36ohms. Furthermore the FET based phono on the SP14 will see 14 volts - this would explain his results - cartri...
Sourcing a top of the line Jvc mm
Well Dover is Kant's  follower with A PRIORI knowledge, He knew that JVC which he never used is ''OVERRATED''.  I never said "I never used it". I said I never use it. I would have thought that you would understand the difference between past ...

@woofhaven1992  Here is what you need to know - Your Audiotechnica AT-OC9XML has an internal impedance of 12ohms and voltage output of 0.4mv Therefore it needs to see a load higher than 100 ohms ( as per specs ). When you ran the OC9 straight ...

@lewm  how does the BMC compare to the 3160 phono stage ?
SME V Tonearm on eBay Hong Kong Sellers are FAKE!!!
The biggest problem, besides from the fact that it’s a fake/replica/made of discarded original parts, is that the fit of the arm rest on the bearing column is subpar, and the arm rest will come loose, twist and pinch off the anti skate spring, re...
Sourcing a top of the line Jvc mm
You are wasting your time and money. I have a mint JVC/Victor X1mk2 with original stylus and cantilever - never use it - overrated. Get a mid priced+ Grado or Soundsmith - much better in my view.
Tube PHONO preamp interference - RFI, EMI, bad grounding?
@filipm  From your experiment, the cables might be more an issue than the EAR. Try some Gotham Audio Double Reussen shielded interconnects - TT to phono and phono to ARC. - fairly cheap, but good quality and very good shielding, much better than...
Does the Eminent Technology 2.5 arm work well with the Transcriptors Reference turntable?
@chowkwan  Thank you for your kind words. I have also some customers who ran ET2's on Oracles - it is not ideal due to the lossy suspension and the shifting mass of the ET as it tracks across the record. The ET must be perfectly level at all ti...
Does the Eminent Technology 2.5 arm work well with the Transcriptors Reference turntable?
@chowkwan  I'm with Lewm on this. I used to sell ET's and would not put it on this TT - I've heard the Transcriptor at length - a Rega P3 would eat it. If you want to update the arm I would suggest a Moerch UP4/DP6 - looks would be in keeping w...
Chime in if you bought a second table that cost a fraction of your main table.
The ease of adjustability on the Kuzma arm has really spoiled me.  @fjn04  If you want set and forget the Rega P8/P10 are excellent, and ideal for second deck - their latest MC;s are quite good as well. They are plug and play. The P10 can emb...
Chime in if you bought a second table that cost a fraction of your main table.
For my second TT I bought a Platine Verdier, but it was so bad - sounded like a wet blanket compared to my reference TT - I never used it. It ended up a white elephant. Replaced it with a Garrard 301 ( that I rebuilt and modded ) with FR64S and a...
how much should I spend to get a better turntable than my current turntable?
Just go and get a new Rega P2. Simple and well made. Nothing to go wrong. The cheaper Project are junk in my experience.
Why do tonearm specifications list null points?
So, is the tonearm manufacturer trying to say that this particular tonearm is somehow optimized or was designed to utilize those null points they list in the spec? Short answer is yes. In theory you can run any alignment you want eg Stevenson,...
