Worth the effort? Cabling inside sub I have done a fair bit of work with speakers testing the effects of LF when changes are done to power cords, cables, etc. The changes are easily heard and most efficacious. When Bill Dudleston of Legacy Audio entertained my idea of rewiring the Wh...
Clarity Cable Review audioquest4life, thank you for the complement. I put a lot of time into my reviews. I try to make them worthwhile reading in terms of tips for enhancement for the owner. My room is a "perform or die" environment. If a product does not hold it's sp...
Clarity Cable Review audioquest4life, I cannot post links here, as it seems to be a violation of the reviewer agreement for participation on this site. I find that interesting, given that it seems manufacturers and distributors have posted links, at least in my recoll...
Clarity Cable Review It was a while back that I reviewed the wonderful Clarity Cable Vortex Power Cord. Yes, they made them in 20A version.
Good and bad w/ replacing stock preamp jumpers? Replacing stock jumpers is typically very efficacious. Many mfgr. jumpers are poor. If serious about obtaining the best result within reasonable effort/cost, I suggest trying no less than 3 brands/types.
Has anyone else auditioned something that really was terrible? There are very few awful components and speakers. When considering the price, most products offer very nice performance, that is, among the HiFi products. Mid and Low Fi, it's a total crap shoot. A total POS that deserved to die was the Advent Sou...
Spatial Audio open baffle speakers, who has them? Worthwhile change from Maggies? For those interested in something different, my extensive review of the Tri-Art Audio 5 Open Speakers, as well as several other pieces of Tri-Art system components, is now published at Dagogo.comWhile it looks peculiar, this is a SERIOUS open baff...
These seem a bit pricey $$$ No worse than many analogue products. :)
What would you say is THE MOST important factor to good imaging? ozzy62, what's your problem? I'm entitled to doubt claims that seem incredulous. He mentions the Legacy Valor speakers I first commented about, then says he has accomplished, "I've accomplished basically the same for +/- 2% of their price." Now, ...
Bass at your ears? (Bass imaging) jetter, thank you for the thoughtful post. My observation was terse, so apologies for offense as though I was disdaining budget audiophiles. I played the song referenced by OP. Strange song; at first I was thinking, "What bass?" When it finally sh...
What would you say is THE MOST important factor to good imaging? avsjerry, what’s your point? Are you suggesting you are getting anything remotely close to the sound of the Valor with 2% of the budget? Why don’t you detail your system here? How about posting it entirely, including cabling. Further, you have sho...
Bass at your ears? (Bass imaging) jetter, I do not believe that I have posted any comment in 13 years where I berated a member here for a budget system. I have habitually complemented beginners and lower budget system owners in the Virtual Systems area for what I consider wise sel...
Bass at your ears? (Bass imaging) The last two posts are part of my point that I made. Most systems, frankly, are not that great. We think our rig and most we have heard are wonderful, but in truth they often lack significantly. Low end lack of resolution is common. When you hear ...
electeomition except banana plugs Yes, I see that in an image of the speakers. Most speakers do accommodate banana connections, and I have seen similar prior, where you need to remove plugs to use the posts for banana terminations. Now, here is where you can gain advantage; use a s...
Bass at your ears? (Bass imaging) perhaps the first time you have heard a room pressurized? Also, superbly clean bass is qualitatively much different to the ears than even good bass. Finally, when using very powerful bass drivers, the centering of the system has a large effect on h... |
