Tidal vs ATC
Very different critters (the speakers, that is)!  ;) Briefly, I have heard both companies products several times at shows and Tidal has been impressive, while ATC has been precise, but not as emotionally involving. I have thought of reviewing Tida...
Synergistic Research HFT's
Have you considered that room tuning panels, which are efficacious, can be made more artful? You can get them custom made with prints of your choice on the fabric, and can even frame them to appear like artwork. If you had not hear of it, I sugges...

You waste you time and money pursuing such tweaks. Put your time and money into the things that actually affect the sound directly, the power and signal paths.  :)
The peculiarities of a high value, low cost, amp
dave_b, everyone's got their own preferences and methods. :)
The peculiarities of a high value, low cost, amp
LOL yes, "Lorde"; Have to chuckle about that! I don't know that I would say it's divinely approved music! ;) I do know the correct spelling, must have been in a rush. As far as questionable choice; of course! I use an array of pieces of music with...
The peculiarities of a high value, low cost, amp
listening99, I have a lot of experience with low cost, Mid-Fi, lower, mid and upper end HiFi amps. I have used chip amps, SET, hybrid and from lower cost/power to upper end SS amps. If you want to see the amps I have handled in 13 years of reviewi...
For efficient speakers, how much difference does an amp really make?
dtrandall, well, most peoples' systems are "happy" at lower volume. Doesn't take extreme sound for that comfortable sound. It's not assured from your descriptions that the issue is not the speakers. If you are hankering for a more voluminous sound...
For efficient speakers, how much difference does an amp really make?
Going lower power and/or tube amp is no assurance of superior sound quality. It is often an assurance of lesser macrodynamics and headroom, as arctikdeth pointed out.  I have reviewed lower powered tube/SS amps, but for my personal systems I prefe...
Add an external DAC. Make my Oppo UDP-205 a true top player
Jrwaudio, got the PLUS power supply,  upgrade power cords and USB, umbilical? If not, you have some potential improvements on horizon.  :)
The peculiarities of a high value, low cost, amp
I have never seen, heard,  used a budget amp that did not have fatal sonic flaws.Usually woefully inadequate in bass and brittle, with little finesse.  :)
I like my Peachtree Nova300 more than my new (to me) Pass XA30.5 HELP!
This is actually a common situation for people who handle a lot of gear. As a reviewer I run into such things on a continual basis. I had all kinds of interesting outcomes with the Kinki Studio EX-M1+ integrated that can operate also in dedicated ...
OMG, just removed my speaker grills and the sound just opened up to a new level!
lowtubes, chill, no reason to ride the OP. Everyone is at a different place. Some people are more into the media collecting, etc. and don't pay that much attention to the nuances of gear, etc. As for speakers that are "voiced" with grills on, what...
Review of Legacy Audio Signature SE and dealer Audio Doctor
hickamore, if you are sitting below the tweeter point, try propping up the back of the speakers to tilt the front baffle forward. This may improve the frequency blend.
Are big subwoofers viable for 2 channel music?
Legacy Audio XTREME XD Subs in use. See my review at Dagogo.com I have at times used from 4 to 12 15" woofers employed in systems. It's fascinating to hear the gradations of power, dynamics, smoothness, ease, tonality, etc. that occurs in differen...
OMG, just removed my speaker grills and the sound just opened up to a new level!
Congratulations on your daring move! ;)Yes, this is basic, one of the simplest and effective ways to improve speaker performance. I remove absolutely every speaker grill possible. Consider a speaker playing through a grill to be akin to firing a t...
