Not impressed ... or a boat.
London Decca Pretty much any warp will throw mine (Super Gold Mk VII) for a loop. Playing around with damping fluid in my JMW 10.5i does help ... some ... but that's the best you can hope for, IMO.
Sheffield Lab The Blazing Redheads were on Sheffield? Who knew?
Sheffield Lab For what it's worth, I have a lot of them but haven't played any except the Dave Grusin in at least 15-20 years. This thread may bring a few of them out of mothballs. Or maybe not :-)
If you have ever bought anything from HSU research The more you talk, the less sense you make.
If you have ever bought anything from HSU research I've had Hsu subs and sub amps and never a problem or issue. Topflight customer service any time I needed it.
Attn Vinyl lovers - what CD Player do you use? After yet another 3 years (this thread does seem endless), I finally found a single player that would do both CDs and SACDs and sound better on CDs than my wonderful Raysonic 128. The Oppo 105 does that stunt. So, on faith, I sent the Oppo to Dan W...
Help ref Oppo 105 with Marantz AV7005 set up Sorry for the snark. I didn't bother trying the stock 105, before sending it to Dan Wright, in direct/passive mode. I had done this (several attempts with different passive linestages) with my BDP-83SE and found it sounded exactly that way. I figu...

Help ref Oppo 105 with Marantz AV7005 set up IME, there is definitely a reason to use the 105's balanced outputs even for short runs. At least in my system. The balanced outputs provide much higher gain and keep the gain level in the same ballpark as when playing other sources (vinyl, open r...
Something to replace glass shelves.... I'm in the camp favoring wood, preferably maple. I can't think of anything worse (sonically) than glass, unless it's marble or granite.
London Decca All that Warren said, after I told him about the Furutech silver cables, was "Wires can make an enormous difference." At the time I got them, I wasn't even very much interested in hearing the Decca. Don't know exactly why except that I was quite s...
London Decca Looks like we have the thread to ourselves :-)To me, the Decca sound is the antithesis of "transparent," which is one of the reasons I like it (components noted mostly for their "transparency" tend to sound threadbare and bleached to me). The Decc...
music matters blue notes 33 1/3 I have a bunch of them and all have been flawless. Guess I should knock wood.
London Decca Is yours the Mark VII with line contact stylus and four cartridge pins as opposed to their usual three? Mine is just back from Warren Gregoire in CA (US distributor/dealer) and sounding very good indeed.I haven't made the comparisons you mention. ... |
