Turntable Cartridge upgrade question.
Whatever you end up doing, I hope it suits you well. I happen to disagree with this: The answer is: pretty much any good brand and quality MC outperforms good quality MM. - as I have some MI cartridges that will give any MC a run for their mon...
Cartridge Change Overhang Difference-Fixed Headshell
Perhaps I'm being thick, but if there is a difference in stylus placement once the two cartridges are mounted on your SME arm, don't you deal with that by sliding the arm in its base? The protractor used simply means you end up with the same geome...

Moonwatcher, to your post of 2/13, please re-read my post about “ultrasonic “ STYLUS cleaners. They are not ultrasonic. They operate at around 500 Hz. Of course, US cleaners for LPs are ultrasonic. That’s all I was saying. @lewm Though just to ...
Any Vertere Acoustics owners out there that could provide feedback on the Super Grove?
"Super Grove" - Sir Charles? When I was a student I had him as a patient at UCH after a heart attack.

No, it's not a problem.

@vinylshadow The Loricraft usually gets things silent in terms of unwanted noise. The Degritter usually deals with the failures. If there is noise after both it is generally because there is a scratch. It takes about ten minutes to do both machine...

@vinylshadow I have a PRC-4 Deluxe, and it does most of the work. My Degritter is the icing on the cake, as it were. I use L'Art du Son with it (sometimes AI Enzyme Formula when needed) and use the Degritter now with plain distilled water. That gi...
Brag About Your Vinyl Collection
Yes, when I started buying it was £2.50 for an LP, and the same for a bottle of Scotch (though I was not old enough to waste my money on that then).
What happens when the stylus tip wears out on a $12,000 cartridge?
@pindac I think you are suggesting MC cartridges might be made with interchangeable stylus/cantilever assemblies? And you would make it simple and perhaps not require a technician? How would you suggest getting around the stumbling block of the co...

There you go: "the biggest upgrade" is how I put it. It doesn't have to be an ultrasonic machine, and all sorts of ways to skin a cat here. But a perfectly clean record is a joy to hear.
Brag About Your Vinyl Collection
It's all here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Faust_Tapes And here's what she did to the original inner sleeve: If you enlarge that you might be able to read the articles. Musically, it's not quite my cup of tea, but certainly listena...

I don't see how arms impart an audio characteristic. Wait for it.....
Rega Planar 3 50th anniversary
Is it not the case that the three point mount is relevant to changing tonearms, rather than cartridges? Or do you change cartridge by swapping in another tonearm? I've owned an RB300 on a P3, and have two RB330s (currently unused), and their cart...
Brag About Your Vinyl Collection
The Faust Tapes, sold in 1973 for 49p. My wife bought it, and in teenage fashion, she cut out all the articles she could find about Virgin's marketing gimmick and taped them to the inner sleeve. Though I think my most expensive buy was Magna Cart...
KLaudio or Degritter Mark II
I've discussed this with other people that have these and our unanimous observation is that the ownership of this is far more impactful on ones vinyl appreciation experience than an upgrade in a phono stage. @skywachr I have often described pro...
