What Does It Take To Surpass A SME V?
I was not referring to you, pindac.
What Does It Take To Surpass A SME V?
The ones I have coming are lead-filled brass, and have adjustable spikes. I am fairly confident they will not be a disaster, as much as that might disappoint some.

@pindac Are your standalone tonearm pods from Acoustand? I have a couple on order and should have them, finally, in a couple of weeks.
Should I buy an SME 30/12A for 15K?
Good Lord, this is going off base. The OP wants to know if a respected ("ultimate-level" for most of us) TT with arm for a quarter of the usual price is a bargain. It plainly is bargain of the century. @essrand Do let us know what you decide to ...
Vinyl - One Word - WOW!!
I wish I’d saved the image used by the Revolver TT advertisements - shooting the cartridge off the arm like a bullet and smashing a CD - that they used in the 1980’s. It would be useful at times. Vinyl playback doesn’t have to be dreadfully expen...
What is the best way to clean Vinyl?
For me, it's a Loricraft PRC-4 Deluxe point-source vacuum cleaner, followed by a Degritter U/S. If a record isn't scratched, it will usually come out as silent as a CD.
Should I buy an SME 30/12A for 15K?
I shall put my flame-proof pants on and utter the opinion that I feel a cartridge can make more difference than a TT. Sure, the world's best cartridge (I believe we already decided that question...) can't show how good it is with a poor TT, and vi...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
That makes sense, Raul. I'm not obsessed with measurements, as there is so much we cannot measure. But we can take an objective approach to things we cannot measure. I argued, briefly, in a thread in another sub-forum here that users of a plug-in ...

That's a fantastic bargain. If you buy it you're set for life. I assume it has a Series V arm. Is the dealer throwing in the fitted cartridge too? If not, you'll need to make sure you have a worthy cartridge and phono stage. I have two SME 10 TTs...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Today top LOMC cartridges Lyra included " sounds " great but: are that great under objective tests? I could think " maybe yes ", so please shows us. Serious question: if it sounds great to me, why should I care about objective measurements? My ...
Your thoughts/experience with very good, cheap tuners?
My first standalone tuner (I'm ignoring an older Sony receiver) was an NAD 4020 in 1982. Still works just fine. I think if you have strong local FM signals you probably don't need an expensive tuner. But if you want to draw in distant stations.....
The best plug in filter ever!
Use of ad hominem replies is an admission that you lack any relevant argument. I suppose you will now ask me how long I must have waited to use ad hominem. I don't mind if you buy these things. I hope you enjoy them. But when you encourage other...
The best plug in filter ever!
Yes, but let's not go off-topic.
The best plug in filter ever!
@normb I don't even need measurements (of what? If we don't what it does, what shall we measure?) But I do require blind listening tests to see if anyone can tell if it plugged in or not. Even that would be meaningful, if conducted honestly. And ...
Have you heard a VAS cartridge?
VAS also have their Nova MC cartridges, which seem to be a different thing altogether from the 103-based ones.
