Origin Live Tonearms The OL arms are top tier—even the Silver will outperform most arms at much higher price points. Don’t sweat it between the two you are considering. More important is comparability with your table and cartridge. Make sure this is aligned and then g...
Gurf Morlix Saw Gurf with Lucinda at Maxwells in Hoboken around the time Passionate Kisses was released. Just the two of them with guitars and about 15 of us in the audience standing and swaying about 10 feet away. I’ll never forget that show!
Please tell me the wait will be work it......my rack @audiotroy Sorry guys, expensive racks are for suckers or folks with more money than sense who want added bling factor to impress their buddies. Can they improve performance, particularly in poorly constructed rooms with full range systems that ge...
Please tell me the wait will be work it......my rack For me the rack for my gear is at the back of the line for upgrade dollars. I’m using a VTI rack (inexpensive, not very well made, passable) and picked up a few Symposium Svelte Shelves used to place under each component to enhance isolation. Work...
Hey Sota - Whatever Happened To Customer Service? The OPs request was not unreasonable. My issue has to do with posting unreasonable criticism on a public forum.
Hey Sota - Whatever Happened To Customer Service? I find these kind of posts unkind and unnecessary. Unless you have been materially wronged and all attempts at setting things straight have been exhausted there is no need to tell the world that you are unhappy with the lack of follow up from a sm...
End Game Turntable suggestions Well for sure check out Pure Fidelity. Absolutely love my Harmony/OL Conqueror combo. Choose a lower arm in the range and you are close to your budget. I’m running a Charisma Signature One which is awesome at $4K check out the review that just dro...
Tube Preamp for Pass XA25 under $3,000 I would suggest an LTA MZ-3 or better still a used Herron VTSP-3A. The Herron will mate well with the Pass and Harbeths providing a light touch of tube magic but very low coloration. You can often find one within your budget. Good luck!
Convincing your local dealer to let you try speakers at home Trying to make a decision about purchasing a component by listening to it in a dealers showroom is challenging to say the least. In home auditions where equipment can be mated to your partnering gear and listening environment are an essential part...
What's your favorite $5-7000 turntable? I really like the Feikert Volare which can handle one of the higher end Origin Live arms like the Illustrious or Conqueror. Compact, well built, sounds good. Not sure if the Pure Fidelity "E" series (Eclipse or Encore) can be had within your price...
VPI turntables The bulk of your performance gain will be with the 3-D arm. I replaced the JMW-9 with the 10.5 inch 3-D and things got much cleaner and more organized. Then moved that arm to a Prime chassis and saw less improvement than I anticipated.
Bigger rooms better for sound? An audiophile friend once offered this maxim—“Big room, big problems.” I don’t fully subscribe but it is true that very large rooms can create challenges you won’t encounter in tighter quarters. It will be very important to select speakers that co...
David Berning live Agreed, David has been a powerful creative force in the world of high end audio (and beyond). The ZOTL circuit coupled with his proprietary power supply topology are what make his amps and those produced by LTA among the best available at any pric...
I've been selling heavier gear for lighter gear A few years ago sold my 80+ pound Modwright KWA-150se to a local file who helped me load it in his car and picked up a flyweight LTA UL that sounds better with my speakers and I can throw under my arm—no transformer! I’m ok with heavy gear but not...
Break In Failed Agree, difference in performance after break in is minimal and often overblown here by folks experiencing buyers remorse and/or their ears adjusting to a component change. Most significant change happens within 50 hours, after that minimal improve... |
