Eben loudspeakers I agree with some of the others as I heard the X-3 at RMAF and was very impressed. These speakers just seem to just disappear and let the music flow. They are also fairly effecient and thus can be run by tubes.
List of top phono preamps best I have not heard the Wavestream or Herron so cannot comment on how they may compare with the Artemis. My version of the Artemis is the PH-1. I am using external S&B transformers with nude Vishay load resistors. This setup really shines whith t...
List of top phono preamps best I would suggest checking out the Artemis phono stage. It is not avalable balanced but is a great sounding phono stage. In my system it was a significant upgrade from the Hagerman Trumpet which it replaced.
Teres, Galibier and Redpoint I have the Schroeder reference with the Jacaranda arm. This arm has about 15 grams of effective mass vs the 18 grams that Thom has with the Ebony arm. I have the Universe with silver base weight and this combination works very well. The combinatio...
Vibraplane I would think that the Vibraplane would work just as well on a concrete floor as it does on a wood floor, The difference is that on a concrete floor there are less floor vibrations that you would have to deal with so there may be less expensive op...
Vibraplane After the VPI I have been using on my unsuspended Redpoint Testa Rosa and it works really well.
Vibraplane I have the passive Vibraplane and have used it under a VPI HW19 Mk4 and my current Redpoint Testa Rosa. When I had the VPI it was sitting on the top shelf of an Audio rack. When I inserted the Vibraplane underneath it transformed the sound of the ...
Lamm ML1.1 & ML 2.1 Chances are that there is probably not anything wrong with your amps. It may just be the combination of the size of room, the high spl level you like to listen and the effeciency of your speakers. My room is about 425 square feet. I do listen to m...
What phono stage candidates should I consider? I am using the Artemis PH1 low gain phono with the Bent Audio S&B stepups and that combination works very well for me. It is possible that the gain from the PH1 will be enough for you depending on the rest of your equipment. If not you can alw...
Lamm ML1.1 & ML 2.1 711 smilin, glad to hear you are liking your ML2's. I am not sure the effeciency of your speakers but with the Teton's 95db I do not hear any distortion at rather loud levels. I normally listen to most music in the 70-80db range. I admit though th...
Schroeder vs. Triplanar VII Sonic Differences I am running the Schroeder reference / ZYX Universe combo and the dynamics, energy, detail and bass response does not seem to suffer at all. I have not done a comparison with the Triplanar on the same system so I cannot comment how they may compar...
Teres, Galibier and Redpoint Xagwell, I replaced my VPI several years back with my earlier version Redpoint/Galbier. Prior to the VPI I had an LP12. What I found when I switched to the Galbier is the background was much quieter and images were more solid. There was a huge imp...
Tenor 75WP or Lamm 1.1 for Kharma Midi Grand? Dmurfet, I feel that the ML1's should handle most speakers rated around 90db or higher pretty well as long as the impedence curve is rather flat. When I first got the ML1's I had Vienna Acoustics Mahlers which are rated around 91db at a rather fla...
Tenor 75WP or Lamm 1.1 for Kharma Midi Grand? I have had ML1's for several years and they are very open and transparent and should provide good bass control for the Kharma's. My speakers which are 95db effecient allowed me to move up the chain to the ML2's. If I had less effecient speakers th...
What's under your amp? I have the VR series under my Lamm amps and the difference was very significant. Increased clarity with better defined images. Bass goes deeper and tighter. These make such a difference that I consider them a requirement. |
