Phonostage question ...
You may want to check out the Hagerman Trumpet phono with S&B transformer. The combination will run around $2800 and comes with a 30 day money back guarantee. This way you could do a direct comparison with the Rogue and return the Hagerman if ...
TT drive belt comparison
Thought I would give you some of my observations on the mylar tape. I have been using a 1/2" mag tape shiny out on a Redpoint/Galibier battery powered moter controller and Testa Rosa TT with drilled aluminum platter, teflon top, and anvil weight. ...
Lamm M1.1 hybrid comparisons to tube amps
Thanks for your response cytocycle. I am considering these to replace some high powered tube amps. I like the crystaline you are there mid range that tubes seem to offer. My speakers require an amplifier that controls the lower regions. My current...
Any Hagerman Trumpet and Acoustech PHD owners?
I am using the copper S&B step-up. The transformers are the same but their are a few differences. The Bent stepup is housed in seperate enclosures for left and right channels. The feature I like with the Bent audio stepup is that he can provid...
Any Hagerman Trumpet and Acoustech PHD owners?
I have the Hagerman trumpet and highly recommend it. From a sonics standpoint it is superb with exceptional dynamics. extended highs, and a wide open soundstage. The only real downside that one may have is that it is rather tall and will not fit i...
Svetlana KT88 is good for Power 2?
Ilbiffo,I use the Svetlana KT88's in my power 3 se's and they sound very good. It is my understanding that the 6550 tube is in general a more reliable tube but the KT88 produces more power and has a somewhat warmer sound. I agree with Kevziek in t...
Motor Options
Jim, you may want to email Thom Mackris at thom_mackris@hotmail.com he is the Colorado connection for Redpoint/Galibier. He designed the controller and would be able to let you know if theirs will work in your application. I have the controller an...
TT drive belt comparison
I picked up a TAC 1/2" video tape splicer from B&G Sales in Canada. It was around $50 and does an excellent job splicing. I would think it would be hard to get the tape lined up correctly without a splicer.
TT drive belt comparison
I have been using the 1/2" mag tape drive on my Redpoint and it seems to be pretty much trouble free (4 months and still on the original belt) and sounds very good. I have not done a direct comparison with other materials but would be interested i...
3K to 4K Phono Pre-Amp
I second the Trumpet, I am using with the Shelter 901 and it is a truely unbelievable phono preamp. It is also half of what you are prepared to spend.. You will need a step-up for a low output MC. I would go with the S&B tranies from either Ha...
Good preamp combo for Sonic Frontiers Power 2
I have the SF power 3's and used a Hovland for over a year. The sound was very good. I decided to go back to an external phono and picked up a Lamm LL2 line stage. I must say that the Lamm sounds better in my system than the Hovland. It goes lower...
Hovland hp-100 remote in the future?
It is my understanding the the HP200 will be a line stage only with no phono. The space where the phono is currently located is needed to allow for the remote control. I think that the line stage quality is supposed to be the same as the HP100. Th...
Preamp Deal of the Century
Has any one listened to the Supratek Burgundy amps. I know this is a preamp thread but seemed the best place to post. The amps look stunning and use the same driver tube as the Lamm ML1.1's. There are alot of reviews and feedback on Supratek pream...
suggestions for turntable set up around $6,000.
I have a Redpoint Testa Rosa with the drilled aluminum/teflon platter and battery powered tape drive. A few months ago I moved up from a VPIHW19MKIV. I am using the same arm, Kuzma Stogi Reference, and the Shelter 901 cartridge. I have never done ...
Got Vienna Acoustics Mahler speakers - what amp?
I originally used Bryston 7BST's with my Mahlers and they worked well. I have since changed to Sonic Frontiers Power 3SE's and they control the bass very well for tube amps.
