What is the difference btwn dolby digital and dts?
DTS is less compressed than DD and I believe fully discrete full range multi-channel with less de-emphasized LFE. Thats about all I can remember from my HT days.
VPI JMW-9 "signature" tonearm???
I've had the new arm for about a month now. The Valhalla cable finally broke in which seemed to take forever. The sound was a little lean until about 50+ hours. Now that the cable is broken in I was finally able to make a few more adjustments and ...
Downsized and still happy, can it happen?
Maybe I'll move my Marantz SR19EX receiver (don't laugh, I love that thing) into the main rig for a few days to see what happens. Just a little flavor change and see how I react to the new sound...I've never A/B'ed it with the Pass Labs stuff :) I...
Downsized and still happy, can it happen?
Hey Pehare, I just noticed your "new" system. Thats a change alright! Glad to hear you've found something you like better. I have heard the new Coincident (forgot model) with Manley this year at CES and they sounded great. Hopefully if I make a ch...
Downsized and still happy, can it happen?
I know even if I make the switch, it will not be the end of the road for me component wise. Just the thought of consolidating and upgrading in one stroke is appealing. I am actually pretty happy with the performance of my system, so I am a little ...

Lubrication for VPI tables
i used the white lithium grease as recommended. i put about a pea sized drop on my finger and then touched it to the top of the spindle ball bearing. i'm glad i did this too, did not appear to be too much grease remaining.on the motor i put the sa...
Lubrication for VPI tables
I did this on my scout before I upgraded to the Scoutmaster. Why, any concerns?
H.P.Caravelles owners, are you still Satisfied.

H.P.Caravelles owners, are you still Satisfied.
why does this seem to read like an add for caravelles and now vts tuning bands? no offense meant if its not just comes off that way.
P75 seems more sophisticated than Black Cube
I am running the Black Cube SE now with a Dynavector Karat cartridge. I think its a good match, but I admit I've not heard every combo in this price range. I am curious to try the P75, and I eventually will, just to see if any synergies exist and ...
favorite pass amp?
possibly the aleph series or the xa would be my favorites of the pass amps. through first watt there is now an aleph j amp that according to mr. pass himself is the best aleph amp ever. i think the aleph j is around $2500 and its a 30W amp, unfort...
Value Powerhouse SS amp
Spectron seems to be a popular choice to match up to Von Schweikerts, I've heard a few systems with that combo and they all sounded good. But if your talking value and powerhouse SS amps I strongly suggest McCormack.
VPI JMW-9 "signature" tonearm???
Update: The new Signature arm will be released August 15th so it sounds like my 'table will be sitting at VPI a while before actually getting the upgrades. According to Harry's post over at AA, the Signature is a very potent upgrade. I have no rea...
